Just curious if anyone that has also run a Picco P7R Evo 2 has run the JS back to back with it? I'm seriously looking at getting one but I've gotten entirely too used to having the bottom end of the Picco. If someone could give me an idea of how much bottom end the JS has, I would sure appreciate it.

Tons!!

The JS has more bottom to mid....actually had to throw a 14t clutchbell on the buggy just to tame it down a bit!...Won't be dissappointed!

Shoaf85 05-07-2010 12:55 PM

Yes they do have plenty of bottom end. My next shipment will be in Wednesday check me out if anyone needs one!

Not necessarily back to back, but I ran an Evo 2 and Jammin JPX for 2 years. The bottom is comparable on the race prep. The full mod spools up quicker, making the punch more than the Evo. Then on top the mod just sings

pballer2777 05-08-2010 03:02 PM

so i just got my race prep and got it all installed in my truck. i know they come broken in but is there any more runing i need to do b4 i race with it. does it come tuned and ready to go?

nitroal 05-08-2010 04:39 PM

you just need to do fine tuning for your area and weather. these things are ready to rock straight from the box.

tony montana 05-08-2010 05:18 PM

well first race with my js today. All I can say is wow. Ran perfect all day and made great power. Very impressed

7mm is as low as i would go..

on a side note joe.. i saw a race prep run today.. it seemed to run great..

maybe its just the full mod motor thats a pita to tune?

Big Daddy05 05-09-2010 06:31 AM

I am running the 8MM with a P5 and 086 pipe on a full mod and all I can say is wow! The key to tunning for me was setting the idle screw back to factory settings, as I had previously moved it all over the place. I big thanks to Joe Alessi for setting me straight! This is absolutely the best engine I have ever owned. :D

On another note, anyone know where I can pick up some more p5 plugs?

nitro crazy 05-09-2010 07:02 AM

anyone know if going from a 13 tooth clutch bell to a 14 tooth will help get better fuel milage... thanks...:tire::tire::tire:

Really, I wouldn't say the Full Mod is difficult to tune. On the contrary I find it to be very easy to handle. Responsive, yes (meaning that only subtle changes are needed to do the trick) - difficult, no.

As mentioned somewhere else in this thread, if you're having problems just go back to box settings and start over.

Please note, that I am not sponsered by EB Mods or JS Racing in any way (although I would be honored:nod:).

i find both my motors (fm/rp) to be very easy to tune. dosnt take much though only hour at a time

JS Race prep for sale Brand new still in plastic.

I have a brand new EB Mod JS Race Prep sealed in the plastic that I need to sell. Box was opened but the engine is still on the plastic shrink wrap. I will post picks soon.

nitro crazy 05-10-2010 07:04 PM

Anybody know what kind of plugs this engine likes, i just ordered the full mod with an 086 pipe. I have got plenty of o'donnell plugs med and hot, i hope these will be ok because thats all i got...???:)

Peter Martin 05-10-2010 07:18 PM

OD plugs are too hot from all our testing/racing. You will need an OS P5 for good performance and easier tuning. Some are using OS P6 in the mods when it is hot out.

nitro crazy 05-10-2010 07:24 PM

cool thanks, appreciate the help.....

I'm using OS P3 and P4 with good results. However, the weather is not exactly warm here in Denmark and I'm using 25% nitro, due to Danish Championship regulations.

snowman6869 05-11-2010 07:56 AM

I def. noticed a tuning issue with the od97t's then went with p3's and it's been perfect.

jbright33 05-11-2010 08:14 AM

p3's are good in cold
p4 seems to work very well all around
p5-p6 hot days
im waiting for the high 90's 100 im gonna try the p7 but might be little to cold

jpalessi 05-11-2010 08:55 AM

P5 for me.

TheFcuddy 05-11-2010 09:45 AM

I read this entire thread, some good info in here, a little bit of drama, real entertaining! I am going to buy one of these engines, full mod for my 8ight 2.0. I really don't see how I can go wrong, Ed and Joe run at the Hut and I do too. How much better could service get if I have a problem? Exactly.

I am new to the area but have raced at the Hut and practice up there on Wednesday's generally. Like everyone else, I like the week to go by so we can race. I am in the Marine Corps Reserve and somehow, somehow! Every time there is a big race I have to work that weekend. It never fails...I know it'll work out someday, I'll get mine.

Anyhow, I found a Dynamite 086 for a good price, should I hunt for a 2041 or just go with the cheaper 086? The 086 seems to be a top end oriented pipe, I don't find the hut to be too high speed. Is it just plain effective paired up with this engine? I am going to get some P5 plugs, those are good for the engine no matter what pipe correct?

I currently run a Losi buggy with an Orion MTE engine with O'Donnell 20%. I know the JS wants at minimum 25%. I would like to run EB Mods fuel but it's not sold at the Hut and is generally not widely available at hobby shops. Ya I know run time suffers without it but if I can't run it because I can't get it then there is no run time. I am not a big fan of switching back and forth between fuel. What would be the next best alternative, O'd or Byrons?

How come you guys don't sell your fuel at the Hut? I try to put some time in during the week because my weekends have a tendency to get hosed. I won't be able to race for at least two weeks but I will be running this engine well before that. I am just wondering, seeing as how you guys race there a lot.

the p5 will work great id pick up the 086 the pipe works great then if want to experiment and try other pipes you can. as far as fuel if you need it edd, joe, myself and a bunch of other guys that come down could always bring you fuel. or you can order it from edd or joe shipping shouldnt be to bad as its not going across the country.. just dont run the od 20%

TheFcuddy 05-11-2010 12:32 PM

I pulled the trigger on the full mod, an 086 pipe and some P5 plugs. Checking out shipping prices to Philly on the fuel as we speak.

shipping to Philly will be no more then $20 a case if you order from EBMods, or Lucky 7 RC. We're happy you decided to get a JS. :)

TheFcuddy 05-11-2010 12:42 PM

I am leaning towards 25% just because some of the other engines that I have. I don't want to have 20% in one, 25% in another and 30% in something else. Will the JS full mod disagree with 25%? 25 is a good middle ground for everything I have. Let me know what you guys think.

The JS comes shimmed for 25% - 30% nitro.

you should let Alan and Mike from Hobby Hut know you want to buy EBMods fuel. They can order it for you too.

wallot 05-11-2010 02:18 PM

had to get a full mod again as it was the last engine available at amain (made a big order to smuggle back home :D )

will get a race prep next time i will be in the US (June) so I can compare

moosemachine 05-11-2010 02:35 PM

25 % will work just fine

25% nitro will work out just fine. Due to Danish legislation, 25% is all we're allowed to race here. As mentioned already, the engine is set up to use 25-30% so you don't have to touch anything. The lower nitro content might make it necessary to use a hotter plug (thank you JPalessi).

nitro crazy 05-11-2010 05:09 PM

just wanted to make sure i'm right. tune this engine from the high speed needle first then the bottom, tuning the bottom so the idle stays steady and doesn't drop, while not touching the idle screw right???;) what temps should i be looking for?

being that your changing fuel you should idle a tank before race tuning.
