you are right, it is at its primo state right now and runs flawlessly (knock on wood). Practice will be a quick retune sunday morning. And once again, taking Monty's advice on the 2096 really opens up the motor. It was good with a 2058, but screams with the 2096. :sneaky:

Glow plugs

Hi. Monty. Thanks for the Monty touch on my P5XLT. I've decided to break it in next season seeing my outdoor race season is going to be cut short.

My question is this. IF I don't use Nova Rossi glow plugs in this engine, did I hear a rumor that there is a glow plug that can mess up the head button on the Nova Rossi engine. Something about once you use these plugs, you should never insert any thing but them and you can't go back to the Nova Rossi plugs.

Thanks

Its not a rumor , its true that the shorter taper on the seal area of OS style plugs will deform the head button on a novarossi , sometimes (more often then not) if you try to switch back to a long taper seal (novarossi) style plug then it will not seal properly and performance/reliability suffers dramatically

Tip: use a c5tgc or odo 97t for break in , it will help immensely ;)

Hope this helps

You recommend the c5tgc over the c6tgc for break-in of nova's?

Hotter plug allows for richer running without the risk of fire going out as easy

C6tgc works but you must lean out the engine more for stable running

My 3 gallon old X3L died today. Has anyone had issues with glow plug parts falling in the engine? I have a old N21R, will the head from the X3L fit on it?

Always used Nova rossi. Rear bearing has missing and damaged balls. Here is the button head.

Same thing happened to my 1 gal X3L Extreme! It got the head button, piston and the rod! Using Nova plugs and the plug only had a 20 min race on it.
