Monty- while I was resetting the air gap I decided to go ahead and reset the needles to the factory settings as well. What I found when doing that was that I was over a quarter turn richer on the HSN and a 1/8 turn richer on the LSN than what the factory spec's are, does that sound right?
Keep in mind that the engine ran well, minus the ghost flame-outs that prodded me to find that crack in the tank. I replaced that and re-tuned for my last qualifier and the main in which I had no more issues. A temp check at the end of the last qualifier showed a temp in the mid 240's, but since the nova still is pretty tight that didn't seem out of place. But now that I see where my needles were, I'm a little concerned as I thought the factory spec's were almost always on the rich side? |

I think I must have the wrong number for you Monty, every time I tried to call I got a "your call cannot be completed as dialed" message.
Anyway, I had a friend do some tuning on my motor this past weekend and he ended up back where I was on the needles, so I'm guessing that's just where this motor wants to be for my elevation and climate. Roughly 5 1/4 out on the LSN and almost about 3 3/4 out on the HSN. Air gap is probably down to .4 I would guess, as I started at .6, but ended up closing it up quite a little bit. This friend is telling me I need to run a P3 in the Nova as it will be more consistent than the Nova #6 longbody in it currently, but he also doesn't agree with me that by changing to the OS plug I will reshape the button and not be able to use the nova plugs again without changing out the button. He swears he changes back and forth in his own Nova's. Am I incorrect on this? |

Ive had better luck and more of a consistant tune running Werks #5 and #6 plugs and O'Donnell 77T, 87T, and 97T plugs |
Go to a number 5 plug before OS. the nova plugs are very durable and work great.
The werks are good too, if you compare a werks and nova plug side by side they look almost identical. |

When you say ".6mm", are you talking about the gap between the throttle slide and the end of the opening? If this is the case how would you measure it?
Thanks 1airborne where the ( of the slide barrel and the ) of the carb body meet to leave a gap ==()== distance in there should be around .6mm |
