I have a plus 4 and it ran perfect but something must have got in the engine as the piston is deeply scored but the liner, crank and rod and bearings are perfect and I don't really want to shell out for a new piston/liner as I have a new piston for a 367
Thanks in advance

it should but not necessarily that it will for sure as pistons/sleeves are all different sizes and it only takes a few thousandths of an inch to make it too big or too small . try it out , it should work but maybe not:tire:

its a decent pipe for most novarossi engines but its not the best .\

the dynamite 086hs is a great pipe for the n21r limited :D

I am loving my FMS, it has power from botom to top, the toro is ok on slippery tracks, but when you need torque, it falls short.....

I think I pulled a wheelie on the straitaway a couple times last weeked. Amazing power, easy to tune, looks sick, what else is there.....

May I ask you for your carb settings? I've got a FMS and think I may have my carb out of balance. Just give me an idea from flush on the low and high needle. Which carb insert? Thanks in advance.

tough question

I do know the bottom end is flush with the outside, and the top end is just under flush. I am using the 7mm restrictor. You might go back and reset the idle gap. Then retune the bottom end and then the top.... I usually run it a little less than 1mm on most nova engines, I really don't have a whole lot of time on this engine. A little more than a gallon. and try the 97t odonnell plug. It works darn good.....

What is your engine doing? Give me more info and I will try to help.......

I'm sure you will get more suggestions too that might help......

I'm kinda like you,I only have 2.5 gallons through mine. I finally got to race it a few weekends ago and used the 6.5mm insert which was good while the track was dry. My tune was changing a lot(may be AE fuel tank, gonna try xray tank on next outting) and right before the main it rained and made the track muddy. About 3 minutes into the main I overheated and died. After changing plugs and richening the main, I got back into the race but my engine was very weak on bottom(like too lean) and the main was very rich. I gonna try the xray tank and start with the 8mm insert on my next visit to the track. My needles are about the same as yours. I run 25% fuel and had the odonnell 77t plug in. I'm thinking the 6.5mm insert and the muddy track was most of my problem. Thanks for the info.

mud does not promote a well running engine ;)

base needle settings for fms - 4.75-5 turns out on low speed , 3.5-3.75 turns out on high speed , close idle gap until it just closes (insert out) and reopen .75 - 1 turn.

this will get you a little rich of race tune and remember these engines need more fuel on low speed ( richer setting )

you know your fuel delivery system is right when your engine runs consistant , if the engine runs erratic then you need to inspect and fix as necessary :D

hope this helps and happy motorin',
monty

Monty, would you also recommend the 086 for the N21RL on a tighter track layout? I thought the 086 was more hi-rpm-oriented...

thanks :)

Trying mine with 9901 for a maiden race this weekend. it still pinches a *bit* at TDC but it's almost there after 3L+ of fuel. I ditched the POS stock carb though and put my Plus4's on it, the idle screw is a PITA to get to... Hopefully I can find someone to help me tune this baby at the track as I'm really hopeless with engine tuning
