OK, OK, I Will let the dog run loose.
1 question on the low-end mixture, When I come in from a high speed pass do I want the engine to go back to normal idle fast when I let off the gas or stay high for a little while? I have heard you want it to idle fast for about8-10 sec. before coming down to a normal idle.

the perfect but unpredictable tune has an instantaneous idle drop , very lean bottom and very small idle gap . flame outs every so often .

i recommend just a touch rich low end , maybe 2-3 sec. of a rich idle up . 8-10 sec. is a little too long .

i want you to tell me what you think of that engine . ;)

you can put any 7x19x6mm bearing in there , you will just need to put a shim behind the collet to space it out .

is your stock bearing leaking ?

YUP it is leaking I have 2 shims behind the colet.

OfnaJoe 10-25-2009 04:41 AM

I will if I ever get to run the thing, the only time I got to race it it got everybodies attention. People kept stopping by my pit to look, I work next Saturday and off the next(11-7) and if it looks like rain I'm packing up and driving to Dixon's in Hazard Ky to race indoors

But to tell you how I like it....I don't like it at all.

I LOVE IT even rich and not fully broken in, It is a AWESOME engine:nod:

A front bearing doesn't have to be defective if it leaks.

A front bearing will allow oil by if you run your engine super rich . With all the extra oil in the crankcase and the pressurization that occurs during higher rpm's the extra oil that does not burn as well as the nitro/methanol in the fuel has to go somewhere . Lean the engine out a bit , especially the low end and see how it goes . Unless the seals have been damaged by a collet shim rubbing on the front bearing or dirt having been ingested into the engine , these new double sealed novarossi bearings don't leak under normal circumstances .

What exactly are the differences between the P5's and the plus 21-5's?

two completely different crank designs , the plus21-5 has a heavy crank such as the plus 21-5k ,plus 21-7bt , plus2 367 . it makes for a super smooth buggy engine , the p5x/xs/xl have a crank that creates a little more torque .they bot share the same port design though :tire:

One more nova school question, will the 8 port p/s from the 421/821 fit/work in the plus engine case? I guess the plus cases have 14.5mm crank diameter?

houston 10-27-2009 10:01 PM

yes you can uyse part #08038 in a standard plus21 or s21 case
