I'm really surprised, what a great price! Team Orion really has their price points in order, pretty amazing.

Hey pitpop, Im looking to buy my brother a new engine for his buggy for his birthday. He has the CRF ABI .21 5 port in his truggy now and LOVES it! So i want to stick with Orion and cant spend that kind of money for the crf abi..I was looking at the standard Alpha .21 3 port motor pipe combo, but here its got a crappy carb on it. how would if compary to the discovery motor? the only other motor he was interested in trying was the Precirotate D5 from ascendancy?? Whats the best i could get for around $250-260 with a pipe...

I wouldn't say the earlier carb is crappy. We have had some that worked really well. The composite carb just needs to be sealed up well, and grease all the o-rings. That's really true with any carb tho, so it's not that big a deal. The only difference is the low speed needle seat is screwed in to the body, and the aluminum is all one piece.

With the ABI 3 port you are getting the blueprinted engine, the ceramic bearing, and lightened head. That's the main difference with the Discovery.

I am looking at the NON abi alpha .21 3 port compared to the discovery...

ah! got it... hmmm, very similarly equipped, but the obvious porting difference. You can definitely squeeze a little more fuel mileage out of the 3 port I would say. Nature of the beast. :)

Ok i know ALL of your engines are Quality, but Is the Alpha 3 port .21 (non abi) any more or less than the discovery?

No, the components are the same. Bearings and such.

The Discovery has a turbo button, which is a nice touch.

I'm telling you! I would buy it in a minute, especially knowing the R&D that went into it. Really amazing.

I can imagine, and I am seriously considering saving a bit more and getting one when it realeses.. Then get a 3port for back up or truggy if I decide to run that later in the year..

It was great meeting you at the Midwinter ther PitPop.

Did you explain to Cody that it was -2 in the morning and he was the only one wearing shorts.:weird:

He guys- I got a brand Wasp Rev .21 in a free drawing a few weeks back.

I know nothing about these motors. Any advice? Are they good for buggy, truggy? pipe recommendation?

I have Werks motors and dont really need it but may give it to a friend that could use it unless it is a really good motor.

Thanks

That's a good engine, picco based if I remember correctly? Probably better suited to buggy, but I think we won truggy with that engine at 2007 Silver State. :)
