I totally agree they are some of the best engines out there. I believe Brian is trying to do the best job that he can do. He is a straight up guy and a pleasure to deal with. I think the problem was the lack of product to distribute, it took quite a while for the engines to arrive from France but once they did Brian got the engines out to the hobbyshop I work at the same day. Give him a chance, I can only imagine the work that is involved being the sole importer of RB engines to the states.

Thats not what I was trying to say my friend. I am just trying to let everybody know they just came in and in time they should be more readily available. I myself am a big fan and pleaded with my boss to get RB's in. I now push them on and off the track. It's hard and expensive to stock all the parts and engines so we are going to try to keep maybe one or two of the lower cost engines on hand. You are definetly seeing more RB's than before.

JUST RAN MY RB FOR 4 TANKS!!!! :tire: NO FLAMEOUTS!!!!:tire::tire: IM LOVING THIS HOBBY 9!!!!:nod:

I tried to emial Rb but I got a failure notice...I was wondering what the difference was between the Hobby 9 and the Rally 9? The Rally 9 is turbo, for buggy, and is a "competation" engine. The Hobby 9 is standard, for buggy, and considered a sport engine-yet the Rally 9 is $5 cheaper. Why is this?

Was wondering if anyone knows how many head shims I should use on an S5 using 20 % it's an older one took it apart to clean it and noticed there was 2 ? I just started running nitro again and pulled out of my Mugen . It's going in a losi truggy.
|
If they are the stock shims you should be good to go. The stock shims are .01 and .02 for a total of .03. .03 is good up to 25% nitro.

You're welcome Jud, glad I could help. Well worth the wait. I got about 8 minutes in my 8ight 2.0 Mild tune, the engine is still tight. I only have a little over a half of gallon on it.
|
I did a confirmed 8 minute pitstop today on my "Hobby 9" on a lot larger high speed track. I was able to run a RB#6 plug for the first time with some luck, I usually run McCoy #59 in my non-turbo RB' with 25% nitro. She is really starting to wake up after about a gallon thru her. The engine is more than enough for a buggy, for me anyway. I think I need to get a
"Junior 9" 3 port and relearn how to drive a 1/8th buggy. |
I have noticed that around my front bearing on the case there is dirt collecting. is this an indication that i may need to change the front bearing?
And what bearings are recomended Thanks guys |
what happened with the S line of rb engines?(s3, s5 etc) I assume they have been discontinued and replaced with the 9 series?
|
Yes, they have been replaced with the junior (S3) and hobby (S5). Basically the same except for the lighter cooling heads and aluminum orange carb pinch bolt assembly.

Add 0.1mm shim to the engine.
Just make sure you know, shims aren't all 0.1mm. Stock the engine should have two shims; 1) 0.2mm 1) 0.1mm that gets you a total of 0.3, you need one more 0.1 for 30 percent(0.4mm). You could also use two 0.2mm shims if you wanted, to only have to bother with a total of 2 shims. EDIT: if you want to run 20 percent, use 0.3mm in shims total (probably the two the engine came with....although i'd still check) if you want to run 30 percent, use 0.4mm in shims total |
