The problem with RB is all the stupid products they are now selling, to me they should of stay as an engine company. You could see how they come up with a Kanai edition and the engines set on the shelves of the hobbyshops until they were put on sale.
To me is a shame because I loved RB engines like the WS7-II the C5 and C6 and today I have a couple of friends that run RB engines that are missiles but to me they just tried to do to much at the same time.
They should of take it slow focus in their engine range and continue with really renounced pro driver program. If I am not mistake Savoya won the 3 europe championships with RB Engines.
Lets hope that Rody can bring the company back to the its origin and they can continue developing bad ass engines.

Rody hasn't been with RB for many years. Rody designed/sold TecnoPower engines for a time, but it didn't work out.

It's a huge shame if RB doesn't pull through somehow.

The problem as I see it is the overall general development of RC over the last 10 years. There was the MT explosion with Savages and LST's etc.., which is what got me into it. Then when that started to fade people started in with truggies, and some even went to buggies. But in the last 5-6 years or so it seems everybody wants to go race a bunch of different stupid 10th scale flashlights... I mean seriously, 2wd 10th scale buggy?? WTF is that? I mean, besides a retarded child's toy? Makes me think of that forum icon of a child rolling a toy car back and forth...

Anyway, maybe their RTR buggy or whatever wasn't the best, or maybe it was just a valiant effort to carry the torch of 8th scale nitro further, but it was doomed to fail, with all the flashlight distractions out there, not to mention quadcopters, bad economies, etc etc. And also not to mention the general development of 8th scale nitro racing.. Got to be a Speed(two, one as backup of course..), got to be only for the very überserious(second kit under the table for spares, 12 sets of tires..), etc..

RB is not Intech or SOAR or any of these other little upstart companies, but a big-time player over the long term. I hope they pull it off somehow and stay in business.

Found a couple hours to go out today and burn some nitro. Took my ancient SC8 out wth an RB Fire in it. Hasn't been touched in 6-7 months, and probably hasn't had the engine out since the year before last..

Started right up, and rrrriipppedddd. Definitely an awesome engine... - one of my favorites of all time. Absolutely devours my modded Beat B5.., and more muscular than my Piccos.. I feel a bit like the last guy at the party though, going "hey, where'd everybody go?", in that I just like running nitro for fun, and am not obsessed with racing and getting 8 more seconds of run time or whatever.. I was just blasting around a parking lot at first. Then I went to a local asphalt "track" and ran with some guys running Inferno GT's... Smoked 'em.. ;) (short track, but still.. The Fire is a beast..)

Hi guys.

Are the RB motors a hotter running motor?

I was racing mine on the weekend and it would come off the track at 230* even with a rich tune.

One note, it is still pretty new. Maybe 25ish tanks on it now. Its not very fast ( its not a total turd either) and doesn't have much low end.

Is that because its still new?

I was told it will wake up around the 1 1/2 - 2 gallon mark.

That isn't hot for an RB engine, it's really rich, they will run normally 250-270 range, depending on track size, elevation, and outside temps, 265 is quite normal, what carb restrictor is in the engine? For breakin, 8.0 (Red) is best, when it's broken in all the way, then drop down to 7.5 (orange).

Wow! Really, that hot?

I have the 7 in the carb now. Running Byron's 30/11, Novarossi C6CTG ( think that's the right number) plugs.

Your fuel and plug are perfect, when you go with the smaller restrictor, your tuning window gets smaller, making tuning more sensitive, with a perfect tune, you can still get good fuel mileage, and an easier to with larger restrictor.

Oh Yea, I have seen RB engines going over 300, not all the time, and still have great compression, and go for 7-8 gallons, I wouldn't recommend running 300 always, but, they run better and a long time, 265- 270, and get 8 to 10 minutes a tank.

Wow. I'm still surprised.

Now, what about temps that high with an engine as new as mine ( 25ish tanks )

What are you outside temps now? Are you using a head heater to start your engine now? I'm in Arizona, so we already have instant heat, the summers are when we get real hot, now it's not to bad for engine heat, 2 wks ago I was in Vegas for the Silverstate race, it's was hi 80s, my truggy was running about 260-270, I was getting 10 minute pit stops for fuel, make sure bearings on the clutch, and wheel bearings are all free, any drag at all, you should be good, if your still in some cold weather, it may take some leaning to get your engine up to 250.

The weekend race temps ranged from 0c (32f) in the morning to 15c (59f), so on the cooler side. I an using a head heater.

The race was indoors but because in was nitro the building was not heated because large doors were open to keep the air fairly clear.

Indoor adds a not her complication for tune and heat, ai4 gets thin. Was that the same race Monty Houston was racing this past week?
