Yep. Same one. Met him on the Saturday. Nice guy.

Yea, he's a super nice guy, he is one of the best engine guys I know, he has a Web site, deals in Fusion engines (NOVA BASED) also has a thread here on rc rech, Houston engine service or Fusion engines not for sure which one.

aznitronut 04-13-2015 06:47 PM

Yea, it's Houston engine service H.E.S
and another he has is Fusion X engines.

Jamie James 04-13-2015 07:09 PM

Ya. I Read his thread (HES) all the time. I wanted to ask him to look at my RB but everyone and their brother was asking him all weekend. I didn't want to bother him more....lol

He's pretty fast too!

Chris Reilly 04-13-2015 07:22 PM

Yes it was. The RB like to run in the 250-270.

aznitronut 04-13-2015 07:40 PM

Hey Chris, how is it going? Where at the race in Canada that Monty raced in also?

Jamie James 04-14-2015 02:55 PM

I don't think one if my questions got answered.

Is 260*+ too high this early in? I'm only at 25ish tanks and have been told to try and keep the temps around 200* . Now the person helping me with break in/tuning is very good. Maybe he just doesn't know that RBs like the higher temps.

aznitronut 04-14-2015 03:16 PM

I didn't know that was the Kani version, never heard anything about that engine, all I know, is it's a 3 port engine, and Dom
nt know of anybody that has had one, I have stayed with the C6, and some of the blast engines have been good, modded engines havenworked good.
keep in mind, you are not going to run that engine at 200 And be competitive, too low of heat is just as bad as too hot

Jamie James 04-14-2015 03:26 PM

My bud ( same guy) runs a Nova P5XLT ( pretty sure that's the right numbers...lol) and its plenty fast and he's just as fast any anyone else out there on the weekend. Hottest he came off was 215. Most other times he was in the 180-190 area.

Wow, impressive, you guys are in a whole different climate than me, if it works for you, thats great, I don't know of anyone out here running those temps, good luck.

Chris Reilly 04-14-2015 07:40 PM

I couldn't make the race. It is not real warm. Although Sunday was nice.

Herrsavage 04-14-2015 11:34 PM

215 is on the cool-ish side for a race temp(not cool in a bad way, just cool as in not-that-hot..), just coming off the track IMO.... 250-260 is totally normal afaic. 280-290 I start wanting to change things.., but depending on conditions even that is probably OK if you're coming off the track at those temps..

I'm not a guru or authority. Just my experience.. I had a Go once that consistently ran 290-300 - and it ran well... My target temp though is 230ish, give or take 20...

Also don't forget, there's probably a lot of variation in the accuracy of temp gun readings...

Ok. So it seens the general opinion it that I shouldn't worry about trying to keep temps below 200*. The RBs are best at 250*-260*.

My temp gun is very accurate. Tried a few of my friends temp guns to compare readings and mine all 4 were within 4* of each other. My other friends was 20* off the rest of us.

Does your engine still has mechanical pinch? If it does the engine is going to run hotter because of that.Dont worry to much on temp, Some engine like to run hotter or colder then others of the same make.

minty 04-15-2015 05:07 AM

I wouldn't worry too much on temperature.

as long as the engine is making good power and a decent amount of smoke and sounds right its all good.

As other people have said with the engine being new and possible still having mechanical pinch it may run a little bit hotter until it loosens up.

I used to run an RB BXR and it ran its best at 240-260* Fahrenheit. This was with a RB no.5 turbo plug.
