I race at an altitude of around 6,000 feet above sea level. My needle settings would be dangerously lean on your engine unless you are also at high altitude. I would try to start with the LSN close to flush and the HSN 3 1/4 turns out from closed.

What plug works well with the fire 11?

Chris Peralta 05-16-2012 01:56 PM

I prefer the RB #5 or a Nova C5TGC. I have heard of many people also having good luck with the werks and orion 5 and 6 plugs.

thanks again chris for your input. I am running the Nova C5TGC and it's a easier plug to tune on the BXR.

How does the BX-R compare to the C6 USA or Plus 4 or X11 or B11?

Thanks

Chris

Chris if you had to pick two engines one for buggy and truggy from RB must be current which ones would you buy and why

Medium track

Thanks

BXR has finally got 1 gallon though her. I am using the Nova C5TGC plugs. Upon opening her up, i found that the piston head has lots of carbon up built and detonation. My conclusion is she is not running hot enough. Should I take out one shim or use a hotter plug?

I got about 10.5 mins of runtime from her - great engine.

thanks folks

Does anyone know if the xtreme flux venturis are good to use in off road?

The BXR is closest to the C6USA out of all the engines you listed. Will be a lot more powerful than the +4 and the X11, and will also be more power than the B11.

For me I would run the BXR in both buggy and truggy. I have always put ceramic bearings in every one of my engines so that is always an extra cost, and having the BXR come with it is good for me. If too much power tends to get you in trouble in buggy you may be better off with the standard BX as the BXR will probably take some throttle control.

My vote would be BXR in both, but everyone drives differently.

The carbon buildup on top of the piston is normal for many fuels and is actually a good sign that you have been getting plenty of lubrication.

When you say you notice signs of detonation, what is it that you are seeing? Is there pitting on the head button? I ask because if you do have detonation happening the last thing you want to do is remove a headshim or run a hotter plug. If you do have detonation you may actually need to add a headshim or run a colder plug not hotter. Maybe post some pics of the top of the piston and the head button.

They will work just fine, they do stick up a little higher so thats going to put the venturi higher into the filter elbow.
