With a new engine line, and no support.. Are we worried that the quality of the product has hit the crapper?
I really like the RB engines, but if they are not supporting their products in the US/Canada it leaves me a little leary. |
My brother has the new WS9 and compared to the B9 IMO it has more bottom end.:confused:
The new WS9 has 3 exhaust ports and i don't know how this has affected the power of the engine but it has great power and gets 9-11 minutes with different venturies. |
Proud owner of a Junior 9. I feel like a little pee wee with this engine  Got it tuned and running.

Has anyone had problems with the pistons breaking on their C6? My original one broke the bottom half off about 3/4 gallon in. I just had the 2nd one blow the bottom off yesterday. One of the guys I race with had the same thing happen to him last season. I thought it was a fluke but now it's happened twice to me. At 180.00 a whack for P/S/R's I'd like to get to the cause of it before blowing the bottom off another one. I did get a good 1-1/2 gals on this one before it popped but I would think this should be a good 3-4 gal. motor with rod changes.
|
I had a used C6 that popped. But it was used and worth the $125 I paid for it. I put probably 6 gallons on it myself. My C6 I have now I think is a dud compared to the one the piston shattered.

Its the same piston in the c6 and USA if that was a question...
|
I'm not 100% sure, but I bought it in the USA.
|
i had a wrist pin clip come off of my ws7 with less than 2 gal as i stated in a earlier post and was not able to get any responce from RB. i know ther would be no warranty but i did want to talk with someone. after that i bought a ninja JX and also put a new piston, sleeve, and rod in the ws7. now the new piston skirt has broken off on one side again with less than 2 gal.ran through it. i am very happy to report that the mugen ninja JX is running very strong and i plan to never purchase another rb product. i also think if i wanted to sell and support a high end engine line for rc racing i would spend a little time each day looking on rctech to see if i could help my customers even if i didn't like answering my phone and emails.
:flaming::confused: |
Well put! I don't blame you and couldn't agree more!
I havn't had any problems with my WS7 at all, it's just getting a little tired. |

How long till the pinch is gone?
Ive got a new hobby 9 that i just finished breaking in using the heat cycle method. After about 30 minutes worth of heat cycles(letting it cool to room temp at bdc between cycles), i slowly started to tune it. Now ive got around 60 minutes of total run time on the engine. Its got great compression, but the pinch is almost already gone. My GRP had a tight pinch for the entire first gallon. Is this normal for an RB, or did i do somthing wrong?

Hard to tell just going by the head. I used to run my s5 with a tall gold head. |

Does anyone know of a place that has a piston/sleeve/rod in stock for a C6BB? Everywhere I can find says "out of stock" or "backorder."

Hello and help!
Hi all,
I'm new here and first I want to say hi. Onto my problem, which I really hope one of you has a good answer for. (I'm afraid I know the answer). I have an RB C6BBII LSG running in my Kyosho Inferno. Last weekend I had the battery come loose and the buggy ran away on full throttle. Luckily I was in the middle of nowhere. Well, by the time I got over to it and pulled it out of the field it was stuck in and killed the motor it had been at full throttle for a good 30 seconds (at least) with no airflow. It got hot... So, I went to start it the next day and it wouldn't get going. If I gave it some gas it would run, but no idle. Checked the glow plug and it looked scorched. Ordered a few new plugs and they got here yesterday. Put it in (#7) and got it to start pretty easily, but again, no idle. Tried a few more times and it wouldn't start at all. Spun the flywheel by hand and it spins easily. Too easily. as in a little compression but no 'pinch'. I can barely spin my Picco .21 by hand, and this motor was the same. Not anymore. So, my actual question: Did I fry the piston/sleeve? That seems to be the most likely answer, but I want to see what other problems I may have caused by having it overheat before I go and spend the money. Could something have warped causing this to happen? Could I have just trashed the whole motor? Anyway, I'll say thanks in advance for any and all comments. -Matt |
id look into resizing it. just grab a new rod to put on ther and check the bearings while your at it. might not be what you want to hear but in the long run im sure if you do what i listed it will get a good nother 8 or 9 gallons or more, if taken care of properly.........update and let us know what you end up doing?

Even went so far as to say one of the head honcho's at RB USA is working part time at a hobbyshop in Dallas. No idea how valid any of the info is so take it all as rumor but it is a reputable shop o.0 |
Anyone heard when the new RB Killer 9 is going to be out?

LOL..
Its funny no one really knows whats going on with RB. And how has RB gone to shit. Look at any forum or news about RC on the East side of the world. They are all over the place and consistantly winning events. Anyone (reseller wise) that has dealt with RB in the past know the original US dealers (based in NY) completely jacked the rep of RB in the US, and pissed the France HQ off at the same time. The new importer is an actual close friend of the Owner/CEO of RB and is working very hard to bring the REP of RB back in good standing with the US base of customers. He is only one man, and yes he is based in Colleyville, TX and I have heard no rumor of him working part time at a hobby shop in Dallas. With all this just really becoming new in the past year for RB to come back to Texas (US) not many people know about it, and I'm sure the ones who do have started Dealer accounts with them like they need to. Just imagine at least 1 LHS in each state wanting to setup a dealer account with RB. Thats 50 LHS that 1 man has to verify that they are legit get them signed up and get them catalogs for ordering. IE they request Pics of your shop and Weblinks to verify your not some garbage ass LHS that will give them a bad name. After that how many engines do you think each shop tries to order. At least 2 or 3 that can be anywhere from 100 to 300 engines total. I highly doubt RB has that many just laying around for a US market that hasn't been anywhere as big as the Euro market. OOO and calling the number to talk directly to the new REP. Read the site they state we don't deal directly with end users, but you are more then welcome to inquire about becoming an RB Dealer through them. And if you have that big an issue make a call to the HQ in France. They list there number too, and I highly doubt you won't find someone there that can help and can actually speak english its pretty common now you know. Quit flaming a good company if you have no insight to what has happened to them in the past in the US, or just STFU and don't buy the engine its a simple as that, or E-Bay that bitch and be done with it. You don't get into RC to :cry::cry: about your money you spent if you think you got a bad product.. You learn your leason and move on. Besides RB's are some of the hardest engines to tune.. Why buy one knowing that unless you have an expert tuner on hand to help, or know tuning inside and out yourself. |
first of all i don't have a hard time tuning an rb engine and have ran them for years. i also am not flaming rb engine quality as much as the us rep. i hate that he doesn't have his act together enough to answer the phone... or ship orders ...or answer emails... or come on rctech and respond to this thread. also if i minded spending the money i would not have bought the engine in the 1st place. i know he must be your friend and one hell of a guy but he must offer service if he wants to grow his bussiness.
when there is a possible problem with a product i use i feel better if i can let the company know about it so maybe they can fix it, or maybe they know the best way for me to fix it myself. also i don't speak french and don't want to so i will be spending my money with a company that has customer service that speaks english. |
My statement was a general statement to anyone and everyone. Not just you Randy Racer.
I never pointed you out and said you can't tune, and I bet you would be surprised how many people that work for RB in France actually CAN speak english. That was my point.. It's quite common now you know. I just want everyone to realize this is just one man doing all this leg work to try and bring RB back in good standing with its US customer base. Yes he may not be doing a bang up job because of how much there is for 1 person to do. If (anyone) has been running RB for years then they know how F'd up the last company was that was importing RB, and they jacked it up, so bad RB didn't even want to sell over here. I just don't like seeing everyone give up just because you can't get ahold of the US rep, and maybe just maybe a lot of this stuff is out of his hands since he is only the importer of the engine. By pass him and E-Mail RB HQ directly. I bet if enough people E-Mail you will get a response. It's not like RB is small over seas. What company doesn't want their product to succeed in the US!! We spend money like crazy no matter what economic situation we are in. |
Let me re-post this for everyone to see again:
I just spoke to Brian, he said he has been down with the Flu. He really is a great guy to deal with, he said any questions shoot him a email at www.rb-usa.com and he will get back to you. He has been great to the shop I work at. Since the new line has come out I have recieved and sold about 12 new "9" series along with parts, plugs, etc. I even recieved a "Hobby 9" that came off backorder just last week. I just placed another nice size order after speaking to him on the phone. No problems here! I was told they should be coming in this week, (Killer 9) and shipping next week to shops that ordered them. |

 fanboi.. funny word.. Makes me think I'm like 14 all over again at a comic con.
Actually read my sig.. doesn't say anything about RB in it does it, and like I said I posted this after reading the entire thread.. If anything I'm on the OS kick right now, but was looking into the new RB line because of the fact that Brian is almost local to me and my LHS gets orders in a little faster because of the fact they aren't going that far once they reach Brian. I was actually more or less sticking up for a fellow Texan.. We don't treat people like ass down here in the south we have respect for others, and as Aaron Joy said.. I've had no issue and sold over 12 RB products recently and just ordered more with Brian.. Seems to me that everyone having an issue doesn't own an LHS or goto an LHS that has signed up with Brian for a dealer account. He doesn't just sell engines to any racer calling in. It's not cost effective. Read a post throughly and try to actually process what I said instead of thinking I'm directing a comment at you. |
Funny thing about the Texas comment since I'm from Austin.
Local shop I spoke with IS an RB dealer and still made the comments that I posted so that negates you thinking it is just an issue with individual racers trying to get parts/motors. |

1 man.. Tons of E-Mail... do the math easy to be overlooked.
Send it again. Anyone ever tried to follow up. Once you have E-Mailed him once a week for a month you would have a valid point that he doesn't answer anyone. Between spam, orders, and any other E-Mail that may come to that 1 account I can see how easy it is for him to overlook an E-Mail and not respond. At least put more effort into it and send more then one message. If you haven't already. The website even has the address for the Texas location. Send him a certified letter if you have to then once you get a receipt back you know he has received it. If you get no response then I can fully see anyone being upset and wanting to flame away. |
I have an s5 and it is run in very well about a gallon. I want to know if an 086 pipe would be a good choice.I ran it with the RB pipe and know it rocks with one of them, but I dont own one yet what do you think all? Thanks in advance .darrin

I started all of this because I AM a Dealer NOT the end user. Since everything was set up I have recieved stuff I ordered from Brian for my customers. It was the 2 engines I ordered for customers that I got screwed around on. I was told that they were in the mail and guess what......still no motors!!!! My customers got increasingly angry with me, then they decided no more RB! I spent a month trying to get some kind if answer and again guess what......still no answer! I'm sure he hadn't had the flu for a month! I went as far as to call Amain to see if they could help, after 1 week the guy I spoke with called me back and said they couldn't get ahold of him either! WOW even a huge hs like Amain???????
I did take the liberty of emailing their main office with my problem and a link to this thread. They promply responded with apologies and a statement that said basically they were not suprised. I was also told to go through them from now on! I love the RB brand, my WS7 rocks! But no service and support = another brand! |
Hi everyone.
I have an Inferno MP7.5 which is only used as a BMX track basher. The current Nova .21 motors life span is up. Im looking to fit either the RT9 or WS7. Which motor out of the two would be more powerful? Secondly I need clarification. The RT9 on the official site gives item #01909-000222. Ive seen some RB truggy engines with item #RBC01900-000222. What are the differences with these two motors? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks |

That pipe is awesome looking, it looks like a small baseball bat. LOL I sold one a the shop I work and I waiting for the customer to bring it around so I hear that pipe. The two numbers you listed are the same engines, the letters on the front of the one are from Amainhobbies and are used for the stock numbers. |
My junior9 has been running great, its keeping up with more expensive engines on this small/medium track!
One thing, its running around 260 280 with the stock glowplug(medium) I've heard that rb's run alittle hot compaired to other engines. Do u think I should run it alittle rich or get a colder plug. The performance of the engine seems go be doing good and it "sounds" like I can lean it further and there is still lots of good smoke but not too sure at this point. |
