I just got home from the races tonight. All I can say is the ExTech engines are for real!!
We took TQ in both Expert Truggy (me) and Expert Buggy (Kinwald). I was misinformed and got to the track just minutes before my first heat, so I had a total of 1 tank through my new engine before my first heat race. I TQ'ed both rounds of qualifying. Our heats are 7 minutes and with the stock needle settings, I had no problem finishing. I took longer than I had anticipated rebuilding my clutch before the main and I didn't make the start, so I started a lap down. I worked my way up to 3rd by the end of the main. I leaned the bottom just a hair and I pitted at 8 minutes. This engine has a ton of bottom end and is scary fast on the top end. I can't wait for it to break in. Kinwald also won his main and went the whole 10 minute main without pitting. I looked in his tank at the end and he still had almost 1/4 of a tank left!!! He could have gone 13 minutes or more. Oh by the way......Brian Kinwald is back!!!!! :) Colin |

Overall my lap times got better at my local tracks and I'm getting just as good run time if not better then my EB V Specs and my V Spec weren't pulling any wheelies. LOL Colin |

That was because you were hitting ruts. Not because of the engine. FYI I TQed last night, not Brian.
Thanks for the pit work last night! Colin |

No problem dude. You were driving smart for not racing in a while. When are you gonna make the trip to the pit again?
It didn't work out as planned, but it was kinda fun, LOL!! Not sure when I will make the trek up there again. I am kinda taking it easy this summer and then I will start traveling and such again in the fall. Colin |

trust me...086 or MSR 1005...........I run a Sirio CL7B ( same engine) and the 2013 chokes down top end....... honestly 086 or 1005 are the two best choices

Dude I hear ya.. But it's not the same engine..
The CBL7 Sti is a long stroke. Plus the Trinity has a diff p/s, carb,ECT My MBX5T was pulling wheelies "top end" with a 2013. Can you tell me what the stroke of the Trinity engine is ? and then tell me the stroke on the Sirio... I have seen both sleeves and cranks and they look 100% identical......... the case is identical and so is the carb.... |
I am not trying to knock the Trinity mill in any way shape or form... I am just curious of its specs... I run a CL7B as well have modified a few, the pictures of the trinity internals I seen are a dead ringer identical to the CL7B.... The case and carb are even identical, which leads me to believe the Trinity is based off the CL7B.........as for stroke, the Trinity i bet has a 16.9 mm stroke.... So untill you can show me a stroke of anything other then 16.9 mm I am going to say the Trinity mill is a rebadged CL7B......... Which IMHO is a wonderful motor and an awesome platform to build an engine line from... definitely one of the most powerful .21's i have ever run...

It's different the engines are similar cause the same company makes it but one little thing could change the whole engine.

The new Trinity Ex Tech is awesome!
I dropped it in my losi truggy with a 2013 pipe and a p4 plug and was able to win Wolcotts Tri State champs by 3 laps over the field! during the 25 minute A main i pitted at about 8 mins but i surely could have went 10! Me and Joe allessi (also running the extech) pulled away from the field early in the race and developed a substantial lead over the pack. Bottom end on this motor was tremendous! I didnt pop any wheelies but i did do a donut trying to nail it with the wheels turned! |

yes, its the charge line, forgot to secure it before the race... no big deal. most importantly, i didnt forget to charge the battery! :)

Chad, you said the stroke was 16.6, does sirio consider this long stroke? just that i am used to seeing 16.8 and abouve being titled as long stroke. are you familiar with the Siim engine, also sirio based with a stroke over 17, are these a 07 version and the EX Teck the 08 with a shorter stroke? I always ran sirio in onroad, they are solid motors, i would like to cary the ex tech but just wanted some version data, email me if you like, i would like to talk more in depth. Thanks Brian

sorry 16.9 on the siim engine

Very impressed with my Extech tonight. still only about a half a gallon through it and am getting approx. 9 minutes a tank at race speeds on a loose track.
|
likewise joe, good driving on your part too. lets do it again tomorrow!
|
ExTech engines take TQ in both Expert classes tonight. I TQed and won Expert Truggy and Kinwald TQed Expert buggy. Brian was on his way to winning the main and had problems of some sort.
My engine is just starting to come alive and it is really a great engine. It has A LOT of bottom, and absolutely screams on top. I actually thought it was a little lean by how fast it was, but at the end of the main, it temped at 209. Ba da da da da.....I'm lovin it!!! Colin |
Just got mine yesterday :). Pending buggy rebuild, I should be able to run it some between today and Tues. Already have a Sirio 2057 too :):D
