I have only used sidewinder 30% in my .21 tuned and no problems besides the ones I create by twisting on the needles too much. Sidewinder does run a little hotter 10-15 degrees but 7+ gallons on the tuned and no problems. You may have a bad gallon of fuel it happens sometimes to any type of fuel.
i havent seen this issue with sidewinder. my engines run the same temps as others |

If you outside temps are 80+ and you have a GRP that is still around the 1/2 gallon mark don't be affraid if it hits 200-220. Mine was running right around those temps at the Nitro Challenge and it was 90 degrees outside. After a couple more qualifiers temps started dropping and my engine was running around 180-190. Just ran my engine again this weekend, and its starting to break in, its making a little more power and it was temping about 150-160 but outside temps were in the 40's. If your past 1 gallon you shouldn't see temps over 200. |
my friends tuned has 2-3 gallons through it. i can hear and feel that its lean, the temps just confirm this. i think he must have some tank issues! after this being his 3rd grp that will not tune and is probably going to burn up, he is not a fan. i keep trying to tell and show him otherwise! i have minimal trouble out of my mario rossi engines!

all depends wich Sidewinder you run or fuel for that matter. Fuel that has more oil in it tends to run a little hotter.....

Hey I know a bunch of guys recommend the dynamite 053 pipe for the non tuned engine but will any of these come even close to its performance. Jp3, sportwerks 053, os 2060, or a jp1? I can get good deals on these, also I have a dynamite 086 so would any of those pipes be better than the 086 on the non tuned version?
|
How is the non-tuned version of these GRP's? the one with silver head, can anyone tell me how it would do in a truggy? Or is the jpx .21 a better chioce/ extech .21

I was wondering the same thing with those same motors.. I was also wondering about the extech 24 or the GRP 28.

Can anyone help ??? I can get it for under $200I will be club racing at medium to large sized tracks and was wondering if this is a good engine chioce in a truggy or is the jpx .21/ extech .21. Im coming from a rtr AE.28 engine that i raced with one time so im fairly new!! What do you guy think?

the sportwerks and dynamite 053's are very similar, the sportwerks stinger does not have material added for strength and it uses a slightly different header, it has a header that uses 2 90 degree bends with a straight section in between and the dynamite uses a single 180 degree bend.

derek- i would recommend this engine over the other choices that you have stated, i ran the tuned version in my truggy and it had good power, the picco/jammin's have carb issues, and the extechs dont have the longest life span they are sirio based they make good power but are not the most reliable
