The RB WS7-III will have way better top end preformance, and the GRP will be better on the bottom end. Both engines will last for several gallons and fuel milage may be a little better with the GRP.

has anyone ran the tuned version with sidewinder worlds blend? i have a friend with that combo and we can't seem to get it tuned in. i run a mr ninja and it tunes wonderful, but his just will not tune in to sidewinder. it wants to run 200* and makes "o.k." power. we both run rc8's so i guess it could be a fuel tank issue. this is his third tuned grp and he's on his 4th or 5th fuel tank. just trying to rule out the fuel.

thats the set up i run... grps dont make power until about the gallon mark. the temp range is 160-200. if its in this range your safe.

Could someone tell me what the noise is coming from my GRP tuned. At idle it does not do it but at mid to full throttle then back down to idle there is a ratteling like sound. Almost like the rod is touching the block going up then back down. Checked everything and no rubbing of the rod. BTW the engine runs perfect stays tuned in everyway.

if you run rc8's and have not swapped the tank over to an xray 808 tank you are asking for trouble ...my buddy jyzf destroyed a grp because of associateds in ablilty to fix their gas tank issues ..that and all the 808 tanks were back ordered because everyone running an associated bought one

Does Kernal Sanders tune the friars that make your KFC chicken? :)

I've got four gallons on a GRP tuned. I dont race every weekend. After 2 weeks of sitting it was un-tunable today. I began systematically going through the obvious things but the same result concluded. Motor would run good, then go "dumb" rich. I was told by a very knowledgeable person that this is common and it is due to needle o-rings(idle and high).

Motor has ran for a couple weeks at 2.5-3.25 out on the high speed needle with the bottom as lean as I could get it. The motor wouldnt run until I leaned the top. Is everyone throwing their motors away once this happens, because I havn't seen anything resorting to these problems here, I hear of the mystery flame, but no fix other than buying another brand of engine? If I set the engine's needles as losi claims, it wont run at all, after four gallons. I wish Drake Would respond to my "real world" totall screwed situation.

(MOTOR HAS TONS OF PINCH)

My question to the board is, are their any mentions of any of this, here?

Bill,The 3 Grp that i got all have went stupid fat at the 3 gallon mark.It has happen to me in practice over the weekend and the motor has no more then 3 gallons on it.I was running it in practice and it was fine and i handed the controller over to Hudson he ran about 5 laps and it was fine, then he handed it back to me and it was so fat that it wouldn't even pull itself around the track. It happen that fast,so just lean it out its fine. my motor never ghost flamed on me i have ran these motor for a year every weekend and they never have let me down. I have only used sidewinder 30% in my .21 tuned and no problems besides the ones I create by twisting on the needles too much. Sidewinder does run a little hotter 10-15 degrees but 7+ gallons on the tuned and no problems. You may have a bad gallon of fuel it happens sometimes to any type of fuel.

If you are running the FLS type pipe system check the o-rings that seal the header to the pipe. I had them leak and make my .21 tuned sound very loud. It took a very cold day to see the exhaust escaping out the FLS fitting.

Thanks for the reply, I did notice the o-rings are very hard and dry. Will replace with new ones. Again thanks

I just got a tuned .21 and so far it seems like it is going to be a great engine. Only downside so far is the 8ight 2.0 I got for it to go in came with this nifty 4 way wrench and I decided I would take out the glow plug and check it before I started it and it was so tight it stripped the wrench. :weird: I got it out with another wrench so all it well (well, besides messing up my brand new wrench.)
