I didn't want to start a new thread so i figured i would just post here.

Would this work as a tuning screwdriver?

Calling future mods as a Change a cooling head and button are total wastes of money..

Silver is standard glow plug and orange turbo.

Read back thru any of the 100 plus pages before wasting your money on useless purchases like a orange head that does nothin for you.

Some believe that the non-tuned version runs stronger across the curve vs the tuned turbo version. I agree and have compared the 2.

If you want to get the most out of engine. Learn how to tune it and recognize glow plug and air leak issues vs chasing down a bad tune. Also, running the car for a minute and then full speed runs then adjusting the carb settings hurts more than you can understand.

Now-if you want to spend money that will get you results-send the engine to a good engine builder like pro twister or powerhouse. I think zixxer has one from both I think. I went with pro twister as a personal choice based on my needs.

Other than that a proper pipe and clutch setting gives you more power than you could imagine.

I wasn't calling it a mad man. I said upgrades/switch. I'd rather run a turbo plug, that is why I would be changing the head. I didn't expect any performance gains from it. I have a ton of turbo plugs and the extra parts to do it, so I don't think it's a waste of time or money.

Man that GRP has a mind of it's own. I just wasn't sure what it was. I picked it up used and the guy that owned it ran 30% I went to 20% since that is what I run. Wasn't sure if it was that. The plugs that I have been using were OS P3s. I read somewhere that using os plugs was a bad idea with GRPs. Since this was my first grp I didn't know that. The engine will run fine for a few days then it would act up another day with that crazy idle. I have no idea what it could be.

A friend of mine bought a Non-Tuned GRP with mods from Mark at Powerhouse. Unfortunately he never had a good day with that engine. I'm not sure where the problems lies cause I've only watched his frustration. Actually he's owned the engine for several months now and hasn't had a chance to try it out in race conditions cause he has problems all the time during practice, so he swaps engines before the quals start. IDK.

On the other hand I read on here about how many people love the non-tuned .21. I wouldn't see why an engine would have problems though, unless it was not properly broke in, mistreated, or manufactured wrong. Too many variables to say exactly.

I'm loving my Tuned .21 though. That sucker performs perfect and consistent everytime I race. I have it in an 8T-1.0 and it's just awesome. No complaints these days.

Ive pretty much tried everything. I haven't tried the OD plugs yet. I have a 97t. I may try and see if that works. I have none of these problems with my untuned grp. I'll just have to keep going at it. The money i spent to rebuild this thing I could have easily bought a new motor. I'll let you know how it goes as soon as i find out. Thanks man.

you some time's have to consider who's had their finger inside the motor....Not saying Anything in particular....but thing's can happen when you cut excessive amounts of material from certain motor's.

Got my GRP Tuned today from Jason (Shady3031). He said it had 9 gallons on it when he had it pinched, then ran it for another gallon. I fired it up right away, had it running really rich till it warmed up. Slowly began to lean it out and this thing came alive! Weather was sunny and 90 degress, and I had the engine up to 215 at its hottest, but with smoke. I decided to try and bring the temps down by slowly richening it. And so they did, coming down to about 195. I never saw a performance decrease at all. I just got more smoke and lower temps. I am completely satisfied with this engine. It's about 90% tuned at this point and will finish tuning tomorrow. I need to get the idle/LSN dialed in so the idle is consistent.

Did i mention this thing could idle all day long!

All of this while running an OD 97.

Default GRP vs OS plugs

Dudes,

I'm having trouble getting GRP turbo plugs and plan on switching over to OS plugs. I've read all the opinions about thread tapers, etc, but was wondering if anybody who has done the same swap has any opinions on how the OS plugs compare temp wise. I've seen a few mentions of OS P3's on this thread, which seems pretty hot- I've never gone hotter than GRP 6's in my GRP (Boss) MRT and standard motors (running 25% with a lean bottom end).

Any clues would be appreciated.

Jarrod.
