'K.. The same shop is also selling the newest version of the .21 5-port with hard coated 2072 for €135....... That'd be a nice double deal...
I have a 2047 - kind of beat up.. Like it though..
ps That's just mean. The thermometer said -11°C when I woke up.. WTF?!...

the 3 i've seen in aus all lived long n strong lives able to match more expensive engines with ease i power n economy (1 still going with 40lt on it with a rod replacement at 22lt n a rear bearing at 35lt) with nothing more than the usual rod n bearing replacements, it's probably modding n tuning errors for the post above.
Herrsavage, I think the quality of the A352 is worth the extra cost, having ran both.

Read about the 2 new GO Engines, the GXII plus+ & the Cera are both going to have piston rings, they weren't going to make the new model with the traditional ABC construction at all but decided to after receiving many emails from distributors.
This is from the NZ forum & from the NZ Importer/distributor.
"Bit of an update from GO Engine Co.
Seems GO might have been getting a few emails from distributors around the world, and are now going to be offering the new GXII Plus+ (the replacement for the GXII-5RHO) in both traditional ABC Tapered Sleeve and ABS Ringed Piston models (y) .
Their new hi spec Cera motor will most likely be released with the same options.
This is good news for the GO faithful, and we will keep our finger on the pulse as things
progress."

Hi all,
Great to see some of you reading our local forum (RC Racer) here in NZ
.
I don't know what other distributors around the globe are doing, and information can be hard to get out of the parent company at present.
Supposedly the GXII Plus + will be released in around 40 days, with the Cera to follow a month or two later.
When I hear anything regards release dates etc, I will be posting on our local forum, so keep an eye out there.
If I get the time I will pop on here and post as well.
The Cera (Underdog project line) from what I have been told, is to be a serious high end motor. Information is very hard to get, so details are a bit vague.
Hopefully all will be revealed in good time.

lol you are terrible maggie !
we sold some 300 + of those engines and had possibly 2 or 3 get this
it happened to some of the other engines in the range as well but we worked out it was a cold run in caused the damage.
NAAA
Ringed motor option ehh? I wonder how their getting the rings to stay put at 40,000 rpms...could be interesting!! I wish I personally had the funds to become the USA distributor for GO as Amain pussed out on the GO line
Agreed for sure. That's why we basically were ready to pull the pin on the brand until they announced they would be releasing future models in traditional ABC construction as well as the new ABS ringed construction.
We were not about to see our customers being used as guinea pigs for new and as yet unproven technology.
It seems the company is steering themselves towards the RTR market after recent changes at management level.
They have canned all driver sponsorship world wide (GXII etc), which has left a bitter taste in a lot of drivers mouths (who have worked hard to give the brand presence in the market over the last few years).
From what I have gleaned they are now obsessed with ease of run-in, and customers being able to use motors straight out of the box - ie an RTR type situation.
Whether these new ringed motors will hold up to the rigours of full on racing at race revs and loads remains to be seen. I am personally a little doubtful, like most other people. Only time will tell I guess.
If the new ABC version GXII Plus motors prove ok we will most likely make them available to our customers here.
When this will happen is a mystery however, as communications into and out of GO seem very one way or non existent at present - go figure

This is an EPIC thread at nearly a thousand pages!
Been running Go engines for years - had mainly gold head 7 ports, couple of .25 race engines in truggy, race .28, .21 3 port R which has only recently expired and an MG66 which has also recently passed away through lots of use!
Go engines are more or less forgotten in the UK - most people favouring Alpha for cheap engines and various rebranded OS options like the Bullitt, plus the usual favourites from Novarossi and RB etc.
I lucked into one of a couple of Go GXII-5RHO engines and a matched hard coated pipe being sold off cheap
Clearly a very different engine to look at compared to the earlier engines I've been used to - crankcase looks a bit OS/GRP/Technopower. Still has the 2 needle carb, which having read on here means it's not the latest version.
Reason for posting is regarding running in - I've tried searching but just using a common term like 'break' pulls 20 pages of results lol
I've done a tank on the box after pre-heating with full throttle/very rich HSN and wheels barely turning, then pretty much followed the Massive Mods approach to breaking in in terms of temps to pre-heat to and what to aim for heat-wise while breaking in. Did a second tank on the box at 1/4 throttle etc and then started to drive around.
I've now done quite a few tanks - probably a third of a US gallon of Byron 25% so about 6-8 tanks if not more. At the moment the engine has been heat cycled every couple of tanks with foil wrapped around the head to keep the heat in. It's getting up around 250F running like that - HSN is still flush.
Pulled the plug to afterrun oil it this evening and it will still happily stick at tdc with just finger pressure on the flywheel.
I checked the bottom end adjustment and it's about 1 3/4 turns in from flush and idle is pretty stable.
Question is at what point is the bottom end setting heading towards too lean when running like this? I haven't run in a new Go engine for years - last two race engines were OS VZ-Bs - so a bit out of practice.
I don't have track access to run lots of tanks so have to go for car parks etc - I'm racing on astroturf on Sunday with this engine so what advice would the experts give in terms of getting it ready for that?
I should be able to get some more time this week to run some more fuel through - otherwise I'll be very busy Saturday wrenching on the car to get an astro setup and running in the engine some more!
I wish I had a spare engine I could run instead, but the only other option I have is my 'old' MG66 with a GXII-5R piston and liner which hasn't seen a drop of fuel either since being rebuilt!
Regards
Adrian

What's the story with the Go G5T? Is this a powerful engine?
I'm keen on an Alpha A852, but there's a great offer going in Germany for the G5T including 2072 pipe..., for way less than just the A852.. I want power though. Kinda' keen on the hard ano 2072 the Go comes with as well..
(If I understand correctly, the 2072 is a big power pipe that goes well on lots of engines....)

I believe it's based on the GX-5R and intended as an entry level motor. Probably OK if it's cheap enough, but I picked up a run out GXII-5R HO with 2 needle carb for peanuts so not sure how much cheaper it would be worth going!
The 2072 pipe does seem to work well with the GXII but I found the JP-4 better on some of the older Go engines.
Does the German importer have any GXII going cheap, as I bought the last one from the UK?!
Alpha is a great little engine and requires a lot less break in - they're extremely popular here.

Touted as an entry level motor, but it is a very stout performer, suitable for buggy and truggy, just like the GX-5R was.
Best run with the 2072 pipe and header.
Only down side is it was only produced for a few months. We imported 40 of these and they sold like hot cakes at the price.
Seems it was dropped in favour of the newer Underdog Project motor.
I would grab the G5T if it's a good price. You may just have to search for spares that's all, as they were a very short production run.
