Many opinions on bearings. Avid, TKO, Boca, etc.
The front bearing seal faces outward toward the flywheel. I just put Avid steel front and ceramic rear bearings in my truggy motor, working great so far.

Guys, if you're having tuning issues and think you have a leaky front bearing, replace the carburetor with a better one before doing anything else. I've seen hundreds front bearings replaced when the reason for the leakage is actually from running rich to compensate for a leaky carb. The metal collar around the base of the 2-needle can warp with the slightest amount of over tightening of the pinch bolt. In turn, this causes air to leak between the collar and carb neck. Additionally, the neck does not reach all the way down to the lower o-ring seal, located in the crankcase opening. The 3 needle does, and is a far superior carb.

If the 3 needle carb is not an option (my fellow americans), order an arrow carb from hobby pro. Its the exact same as the "new" go carb, and is the way we should have gone (and is one of the reasons for my voluntary departure from the go family). You can also use a nova, fusion, or OS carb.

Seriously, don't waste your time chasing down bearings. Replace the carb first.

can you tell me

how many litres has the engine done ?
what was your run in method ?

rear bearing , you mean the one closest to the back plate ? should not have a seal at all. when looking in to the back plate you should see the bearings and the cage or bearing race.

let me know ill see if i cant help out

cheers m

Rear bearing has a retainer that faces towards the front of the engine.

Onroad and aircraft engines do not have rubber seals. Offroad engines have seals to keep dirt out. Change the carburetor first.

let me repeat what you just said.

the rear bearing has a retainer that faces towards front of the engine.

question , wouldnt the bearing at the front of the engine be the front bearing ?

and the one at the rear be the rear bearing ?

Just got my first Go motor and needed a little advice on which pipe to run. It's a GXII-5RHO. The pipes I have to choose from are a Nova 9901, Werks 2057, Dyn 053, jp1 and jp3. I was thinking the 9901 or the 053. Thanks for any info.
