MG66 2nd in buggy, GXII-5RHO 3rd in buggy.
Great result for the new GXII, as we only got it last Tuesday. NZ team driver Craig Underwood managed to get 9 tanks through it by the time we headed off at 4.30am on Friday morning. Did another tank on Friday afternoon (as the morning practice time was rained out, so he went into qualifying on Saturday with a very tight new motor
. Won one of the heats and ended up qualifying 3rd not very far at all off TQ pace. Then the heavens opened up on Sunday just before the 1/4 finals started and the event was called.Craig was very impressed with the linear power of the GXII, and how much stonk it had for a motor with only around 1.5 litres through when he started racing it. By the last heat it was starting to come to life, and sounded and looked nasty
A few other drivers had a quick drive around the pits, and that plus closely watching how the motor performed during qualifying had them placing their orders
. So despite the weather it was a very successful weekend for us, with GO and MG motors making up 50% of the field over both classes.
Hey Flanno - just got back from our 3 day North Island champs. Unfortunately the finals got washed out, so results went on qualifying.

Magie;
I only did the 3 8min rounds on the Saturday and was too knackered Sunday to bother going after finishing work at 3am Sat morning and being up at 5.45am to head to the track, then had a party to attend Sat night and it all caught up with me.................

raced the new GXII this weekend,ran about 5 tanks on the box as the weather has been lousy all week
engine was still rich but was right on the pace and set fastest lap of the day so it cant be too bad.
bit heavy on fuel with the 8mm venturi and fat tune but to be expected..its only done 5 tanks before it was thrust onto the track under race conditions so couldnt be more happier.
it feels smoother than the old 5 port but just as quick.what i did find with the GXII over the GX 5R is that it broke in a heck of a lot quicker!
the GX5R and 7R took around 2 gallons for the pinch to drop off,the new GXII has only had around 15 tanks and its already looser than my 2 gallon 7 port.
so either they changed the material or changed the pinch tolerance..anyone else find the same?

Yep. I didnt want to say anything until I was sure, but I was pitting at 10 and 12 mins this weekend w/ the 0801 pipe. I've only got about 1L (a little over a quart) break-in and somewhere between 1 and 2 Liters. Lost track because the good folks at powermaster supplied us with some fresh 30% brew.

Yep thank god for Mickey B. and powermaster for saving my weekend. Bad fuel is so hard to track down because you want to try everything else first. Once I switched over to the powermaster this weekend my motor came alive.
On a side note I will be breaking in my GXII this week and I can not wait. Both Mark and Treys GXII motors looked fantastic this weekend and we were all getting crazy run times partially due to the short track but still very, very good. On Friday at practice I ran my Mugen Truggy out of fuel just shy of the 15 minute mark.
