Quite likely. The newer coated cranks have slightly different balancing I'm told, which results in letting the motors rev that little bit better.
I have broken in and am running a GX-3R and a GX-7R. The new GX motors are streets ahead of the Pro Series motors in ease of tuning (with the long needle) and overall performance as well as ease of break in IMO.

lot less pinch is that good or bad? I will break it in by heating the motor prior to every start up till it's full broken in. I will be patient as I can, do you have any sugestions. I wish I had time to send it to you before our series starts in 2 weeks. I don't want more power I want more useable power and fuel economy.I need enogh power to get the car sideways but when the power is appied it straightens the car up not overrotate it What pipe would you recomend for a short dirt oval and clucth ,springs, an what gear ratio. I was thinking 16x51.

Yes, less pinch will be easier to break in and it isn't as hard on the rod. I would sat an 086 pipe would work well for you, Dynamite's are fairly cheap. The Go 0801 would get better mileage.
With big blocks you can go to a lighter clutch spring, in offroad we use a .9 in our truggy with a .25. I have no idea what your track looks like so I can't say what gear.

Yes the RTR .21 .25 .28 engines come in 3 port either blue or black head , the pro engines come with 6 port in .25 and .28 , comes with red head .

hey gus what glow plug do you recomend for the new 5 port. I will be running 30% byrons threw it.

With 30% use the GO T4 medium hot, or the O'Donnell 97T medium plugs.

If you need to go hotter for any reason then change to the GO T3 hot plug, or the O'Donnell 77T hot plug, but the medium plugs on 30% should be sweet.
Some people use the OS P3, but with 30% this ultra hot plug is too much IMO.

I would pick up either Odonnell 97t or Os P4, or even a p3.
i think they come with a Go T3.

Problem fitting manifold over exhaust gasket

I've just installed my new engine (Go .28 3 port) and exhaust connection is metal, so has a rubber gasket on it. I've bought, tried, and failed with 2 manifolds so far (18mm) as they seem to be too big to slot over the metal, as was expected, but also too tigh to slot over with the gasket attached. I just keep ripping them.

I've tried lubing with a little bit of oil, every conceivable angle, even dremelling a little off the edges to try to ease it on. But no joy

I'm currently using electricians tape wrapped around to create something like a seal, but this is obviously far from ideal.

Any ideas?

the LSN is at such an angle, that it is completely obscured by the exhaust. Surely this is going to make any kind of tuning extremely difficult to say the least?

PS. Also, there's no idle screw? Unless i'm going crazy

From the pic you posted , the idle screw is the one you have marked as the low speed needle. the low speed needle is where you hook the linkage on to the carb.

As far as the pipe question, to run that old school style of set-up you will have to keep trying different gaskets until you find the right one. OR you could buy a one piece pipe set-up.:nod:

The screw you have pointed out as a lsn in the pic
is the idle screw. The lsn is located in the end of the
slide where the throddle linkage attaches to the ball
end.

I'm going to pick up a 1 piece pipe when i've got a little more spare cash, as I just picked up the engine and clutch/flywheel.

I'll try some smaller gaskets, and will hopefully have some luck that way.

Do you have a local hobby store (LHS)? They should be able to help with the gasket problem.

Didn't catch which pipe you're using, but these work for me from my Go 5 port .21 to my Hyper 8 header (pretty standard 1/8 stuff):

The gaskets should fit tight, use a little after run oil to install. They will wear out over several race days.
