Is your clutch nut tight? If not your crank will move back and forth causing the rod to break. I do believe this was discussed on this forum some time back. Your rod problem is one that happens occasionally, but not that often. Also you do have the oil grove pointing front towards the bearing? What is your shim pack and glow plug, nitro%?

CACH Offroad Series, last stage ...
Well guys,
Just came from the last stage of the CACH Offroad Series, this is a open championship in my country on a very open and high speed track with good jumps and few technical sections. Its a 10 races series during whole year. Buggy : Got 3rd place A-Main. Was leading the race but got 2 flameouts, was very scared because first time with flameouts since im racing GO Engines. After second one my pitman heard the engine very bad and like overheating, and called me back to pits, to find out that my pipe fuel line connection was BROKE :( ... aarrrghhh, just couple minutes to finish, so never recovered but at least got 3rd place : (GO .21 7 port on Hotbodies D8 Buggy + VP PRO EFRA 3023 pipe) http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...ob10Medium.jpg Truggy : Got 1st place A-Main. Every single time i race my .25 engine, i love it more. All people loves .21 5 port on truggy but im a .25 fan for life lol !! (GO .25 6 port on Hotbodies D8T Truggy + GO 2072 pipe) http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...ot10Medium.jpg Couple action shots from the race : http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...gy01Medium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...uggyMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...gy01Medium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...21_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...d2_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...29_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...67_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...53_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...6f_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...e5_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...24_bMedium.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...1d_bMedium.jpg well guys, hope to do it better in 2010 ... GO Engines rocks !! cya !! |
matrixmike28, PM 22racer(Rex), he should be able
to help you out with the Go engine parts that you need. You may want to send him the engine and let him repair it. He could even break it in properly for you. You shouldn't have any more broken rods after it comes off of his break-in bench. Also, whats all the tyre sales and 808 talk doing on this thread? At least post pics with the bodies off, to show the GO engines bolted to them. |

Yeah I only had one rod break. It was a while back and it could happen to any motor. The crank broke this time not the rod.
I have a couple coated cranks and some rods, I may have a used block. Rex |

I will get with rex on the parts. I have broken in many motors and do not have a problem normally with rods breaking. I follow all the rules off massives site and they work. I have several other go motors with plenty of fuel through them with no issues. I ran the first rod in my first go to long and to hard. I change out my rods at the 1 gallon mark now. In fact the rod in the motor that broke this weekend was only about 4 tanks old. It was apparently stronger than the crank. The back of the crank sheared in 2 right below the pin but it didnt hurt the rod. ;) I was only mentioning my frustration because I am trying to get some respect at my track for Go Tech but when these things happen it doesnt help the cause. Even though I seem to see atleast 2 or 3 OS motors bite it every weekend because of low compression after only a couple gallons. The guys at my track are die hard vspec and they hate it when I eat them up on the straight. :sneaky:
Dont worry about it , Anybody that runs another brand engine and laughs when you pop one is forgetting that their brand blows too, its a bit of a cheap shot to laugh at someones misfortune.... They are race engines and no matter what brand , any time in the past we have seen them all blow . The reasons are too many and varied .. There is not one engine on the market that is fool proof or impervious to damage or failure. So you have to ask the question , when your brand engine does pop, how much will it cost to fix it ? i think that pretty much seals the deal .. having said that Brand Loyalty is what makes competition. of course people say theirs is better , mine is faster , my dads car is bigger than your dads ... Who cares at the end of the day as long as we enjoy the sport ! Go Engine has proved its self many times as a serious contender in the race world. And the brand is still only very young ! Can you imagine where Go will be when it has 40 years under its belt like the companies its successfully competing with right now ? :D Its good food for thought  RE Tuning Guide The 7 Second pinch is meant to be adjusted in under a minute from a cold engine start. It may be on the rich side but its to get the engine in the ball park. Fine tuning is recommended as is stated in the tuning guide. And by all means if you find a way that works better for you then thats great. The guide is there to give peopel some sort of frame of refrence. Please note that each pipe and head shim plug fuel combo will change the pinch time from engine to engine. I chose 7 seconds to be safe. MASSSIVE ! :batman: |
Also if you need parts please see your local dealer but if you are having trouble please visit our site , we have most parts on hand.
any questions dont hesitate to ask ! Cheers MM http://www.massivemods.com.au/index.php?cPath=7 |
