hi just a quick question, I just started running the 7 port with a dym 053 mid pipe and was wondering what pinion and spur others are using on a losi 8b. I went to a 47/13 for a smaller track tends to max out rpm, but the stock 48/14 was doggy. Thanks for the help and idea's, love this eng.

Couple friend here with Losi 8ightB on 7 port use torquey pipe and heavy spring clutch with STOCK bell/spur

cya !

Thanks for the pictures Pato - nice ride :)
Sounds like you have the perfect set up with the 7 port, 2072, VP Pro 1.1 springs and alloys. That set up sounds very familiar to me for some reason  Our buggies could be twins !!!

Matt I actually have to say I am gealous. LOL

I ran a losi 8 for about 18 months and I used a go 7port in that also
stock gearing with a 2047 and kingheads shoes with silver losi springs or a combo of 2 silver and 2 gold.
You might also want to look into a VP-pro losi clutch they are very similar to the kingheads in wear and grab but they come with three sets of springs .9, 1.0 & 1.1's

Adrian,

I noted on your signature you use SAVOX servos, can you post your opinion about them ?, they are little unknown in America and very well known right now in Europe and Asia and i would love to put my hands on a set of them to try them out,

thanks man,

Thanks Guy's, I do think part of the bog on stock gearing was me getting used to tuning this mill. Race on. :sneaky:

What kind of runtimes are you guys getting on your 7ports? 8+ minutes in buggy?

Hey pato no worries I've found the Savox servo's to be really good I swiched to them from ACE servo's and I got to tell you what a difference they weigh a 1/3 less have more power and use less. also the gear set is completely alloy no plastic anywhere to be seen.

I found after a couple of months of running with futaba 9451's and ace 1015's that they started to "search" for centre ( that lovely humming sound)quite a bit but after almost 6months the savox seem alot more stable.

Also in the states they are being imported as ORION servos so you may have heard of them under that name.

heres a link to their site I use the 12kg servos in the buggy (0.08 sec through 60deg)

http://www.savoxservos.nl/?page_id=370&lang=en

and these are the Team Orion versions

http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.ph...&filter_mfr=47

also nice combo in the buggy just got our 2072's this week so we're hoping to try them out this weekend.

Cheers Adrian;)

I was averaging 9 minutes but after some discussion here I added 15% expo and rather than limit the epa to 75 or 80% throttle (I like it wide open on our home straight) I used the throttle speed limit available on my 3pks to slow down the throttle response and my lap times went down due to less rear wheelspin and better overall control and my run times leapt to 11min average..Driving style can make a big difference though..smooth use of the throttle rather than jerk/brake/jerk/brake style will vastly increase runtime..I have been practising smooth control and have been frankly amazed how much difference it makes..difficult to maintain sometimes under race pressure though..

[QUOTE=MassiveMods;6076967]They are Gen 5 , gen 5.5 are only avail to registered distributors. Also be ware of someone falsely advertising something as " Factory Modified " its not , as Gary stated earlier. Also you have no warranty , the factory will not warrant engines sold through non registered dealers.

I thought the carbs with the red GO logo on the front were gen 5.5 though mark? obviously I got that wrong..never mind..did you get my payment and email OK???????

Yep, with nice smooth driving and reasonable ambient temps and air conditions 10 - 11 minutes is not a stretch with the 7 Port (running 6.5 restrictor).

For sure..This summer is the first time I tried to really to look at my driving style..I decided apart from general crapness that I was far too much max throttle/max brake with resultant wheelspin and slides all over the place..In my time I've raced both motorcycles and formula 5000 and even some rallying in an audi quattro and I was never the quickest driver between 2 points but I rarely crashed ..I realized I wasn't using the same techniques with the buggy so I made a concious effort to smooth out my responses..easier said than done when all you need to do is twitch your index finger ( well 2nd still in my case..ahem) and even without adding the expo and servo speed reduction my runtimes jumped from 9 to 10 min 20..The radio settings mean I can still get over-excited and twitch the old finger but the servo still moves smoothly..

Anyway I hope to have the MG66 by the end of the month along with new mp9 big bore velvet shocks and some super trick tapered hole pistons which gives me the entire month of august (ha and my business is shut so little or no work) to run it in and set up the buggy and really work on my driving..I would like to get the 2 gallons through it and change the rod etc before racing on 3rd sept..might try and get one of my sons to operate the video cam..

Ahh - a man with a chequered past. Formula 5000, now your talking my lingo. I was brought up on Formula 5000 and Mc Laren Can Am cars. Big boomers :D
Driving one of those must have been a huge buzz. We have a couple of rounds in NZ each year of the Formula 5000 Revival Series which is raced around the world. Have you had anything to do with that ?
My need for speed just resulted in the second hand purchase of my latest toy. I know it's not an off-road or a GO, so I apologise in advance men, but it is bloody fast  Gives me a buzz when I'm not playing in the dirt with the X Ray. Thought you might be interested.
