I would think if the clip wasn't in all the way, it would of came out during break in with all the extra fuel going in and all. I pulled the pin just to look at it and both ends are severely worn. That's something I've never seen yet either. You'd think this thing had 10 gallons on it.

The rod came already assemled in the piston from the factory? How warm did you heat it up before starting? I have never seen a clip break, only just come out. (always exhaust side) I did rebuild a Jx Ninja that seemed to wear the clip thin.

hey rex, if he put the con-rod piston in backwards would that cause it? I thought I read the engine would still run even if skirt was backwards.

I went to the (not so) local track this evening for an extended practice session. You may recall I had some tuning issues several weeks back that got resolved with having 4 (count em 1,2,3,4) head screws installed. To make things easier on myself and the conrod, I bought an engine warmer. Let me tell you ... this thing is awesome. It enabled me to tune for performance immediately instead of running laps and waiting for it to come up to operating temps. In the past I always had trouble with lean bogging, but today I came off every time right at 225. I could have tuned the top a little crisper, but I already had more power than I could handle.

I told my buddy about how things went today, and he noticed I didn't mention a single word about engine / tuning problems. Made my day :) !

Thanks, so do I. Do all the Nova's have that issue? I Got a P5XS too and wonder if I should look at it before counting on it as a back up.

I can't comment on any of the new Nova's as I stopped running them after having 2 give up on me so early. but it sounds like they may have just had a bad batch of 14.5mm bearings early on.

I've been running GO's now for nearly three years and I just can't justify spending the big price tag for a "High End" engine that doesn't perform any better that my so called "cheap" GO.

I'll never lie about the GO product as I've had problems like others have, but I've had just as many problems with other engines as well.

Value for money I say you still can beat a GO.

just my 2 cents

Yes it came assembled. I heated the case and head to 220 external temp so it should of been all of 200 inside. It turned right over on the box. It went through break in fine. Got around 1/2 gallon on it during break in. Then got about another 8 tanks on it after break in and thats when it died. I can't say for sure the clip broke, but it definitely jammed the piston in the sleeve. It was on the intake side of the piston.

thanks :) im getting one its a good idea

If you put it in backwards..The piston would slam the crank throw and destroy the piston. The Intake side is shorter to clear the crank and the back cover has a cut out for the longer skirt on the exhaust side to clear.

Yeah Mark "Powerhouse" was at my local track saturday and the engine warmers look nice as hell. If I wasnt building a E-8th scale as we speak i would now have 1 in my pit box.

Where is Mark?

Has anyone heard from Mark at MassiveMods?

I ordered the new 2072 pipe on 5/30. Mark communicated to me on 6/3 that he was expecting the pipe to be in by 6/5 and it should be shipped on 6/8. Since then I have sent him two emails and a PM on rctech with no reply. My order is still showing as "processing" on MassiveMods.com. My paypal has already been billed so we're not waiting on them.

So has anyone heard from Mark? Just wondering if he is out of town or something? All the feedback on rctech has been positive regarding MassiveMods so I have to wonder if something is up?

you know I will have to say that my 21 7pt turbo has kept up with any modded and non modded motor at my track. Just put on k2 panthers last race weekend and wow what a difference. Thinking about trying another motor not really looking for a 5pt but probably the 3pt race anyone run one? I want to know how well it runs in a buggy on a medium technicality track.

Probably beacuse you shouldn't be revving it that high with only ten tanks on it. Also it's probably lean on the top by the sound of it, which means your slowly (actually very quickly) killing it
