my dad is using the Losi RE10 pipe on his Go 3PT (stock), the pipe pretty much looks like a JP-1, has a lot of bottom end but the run times aren't that good.

What is a reasonable temp range for the go sport 21 3 port with an 86 pipe.. im not seeking a exact temp just a range where they are commonly happy with. I know the sts was happy at about the 230 range, just want to know if this is a normal temp motor or one that likes to cook. example the os rg liked 290-310 by design while the novas i have worked with like about 195-210 and the werks engine i owned well i was just happy to see it run at all so i didnt temp it. It that was a rare and very short lived thing (still have it, it is untunable). |
what sought of run times are you getting on the 3 with the losi pipe ?

Thanks for the replies about engine temps. i am not planning to tune with the temp gun just wanted to make sure i wasnt too far out of the 'normal' range onc i do have a happy tune on the engine. right now i am still breaking it in, on tank nine running it rich still at 230 and ~1/2 throttle, so i just wanted to be sure. the fuel i am using is byrons gen1 25%/12.5%
Once i finish breaking it in i plan to goto sidewinder 20%. which of the shims to i remove for 20% fuel? there is a copper and an aluminum one. JCG races sat night 5:30 signup and 6pm start We also have a wednesday under the lights thing, it is under the lights till 10:30. option is there for either open practice or racing, to be decided by turnout and what the people want. If racing signup is 6:30 race start 7:00 (2 heats and mains) |
by the sounds of things i better get a the go pipe for engine im thinking

I was out this afternoon running my 7-port turbo that I am breaking in. was going good all of a sudden FLAME OUT! So I did not panic checked temp was at 190 about where I had it with the heat gun. So I reset all needles, still flaming out. From my experience on this thread and the education that I have gotten from every one I realized there was something else going on. First thing I did was replace glow plug. went from os p-4 too os p-3. that motor does not like those plugs. Now ed bridges told me to only use the os-p3 in my 5 port. and it does not like any other plug. well I took it in the shop checked fuel filter, lines noticed air filter outer cover was a little dirty so I put on a clean one.I also took out the hsn,and to my surprise around the threads it looked like rubber gasket material? so I blew through the pressure line while holding a paper towel under the fuel inlet opening and out came more rubber particals. I basically just flushed it out and put needle back in. Back somewhere in this thread a gent was going to try the O'Donnell OD77T turbo plug. I did and by god that engine really likes that plug. So who ever suggested that plug thank you. I am going to run it in my 7 port turbo and save the 8.00 os plugs for my eb modded 5 port. So what did I learn from this thread? when my go tec starts acting up it is not necessarily the engine. mine have always stayed in tune. this particular engine I had set the needles once and never touched again until today. the other thing was don't panic, and I noticed I was getting a little anxious. thinking the carb the carb, got to be some thing wrong with the carb. sht I have everything set like the forum say's to. saved my self a lot of time and head ache just going over everything. and having faith in this product. was it the rubber stuff around the hsn needle? don't think so I think it was the glow plug. I think my whole point to this story for me is if the engines running good and you've done your home work there really is no problem only a quick solution. KNOW YOUR PRODUCT:batman::batman::batman:.

I've been using OD77T's for a few months now and I'm very happy with them, I get the same performance for half the price of the OS ones.

I tried a 77t and it worked great, looking at the chart it's a .12 on road med. plug? The 97t is also listed as a med, guess I need to call odonnel and get the answer.

This is one O'Donnell #77 turbo glow plug for all engines that accept turbo plugs. This is a hot glow plug intended for use in .12 race engines with high nitro content fuels. This can sometimes be a good plug for .21 race engines if you need a hot plug (such as when the humidity is very high). This is also a great plug for the new OS VZB V-Spec off-road engines that need a hot Turbo plug.
worked great for me. |
What are the recommended pipes for the EBM5's

I switched a while back from the P3 to the 77T. OS plugs work they just cost me $11 and the OD cost $5.50, common sense. I still have yet to see if the OD's last as long as the OS though as my out door season starts tomorrow. On A side note I was going to put the break in shim and clutch on my new Powerhouse mods 3 port race and said F it. And took the mill apart because i wanted to have a look at all the work he did to it and man, he did a work of art. He even opened the exaust on the case and it now has like 4 or 5 intake ports and crank work. Just awesome and i didnt even get his top of the line package I got the race port. Under that he has a sport package and top shelf is the turbo mod. I may get a 5.5 crank and have him do that up for 1 of my mills.
