call me stupid but what do you mean by wall thickness and what difference does that make?
|
Lon_L, I am not familiar with the o'donnel head, If it has a button built in, you will need to shim it so the engine has .024" of squish. You will have to check it and shim it properly.
Lance high ends pipes are usually a thinner wall material, that is why they will bend much easier then the thicker walled pipes. The difference in performance is not that great or not really worth the added expense. The thin wall pipes will expand and contact more with the exhaust pulse which improves performance. |
That is weird.I find the OS to be harder to dent than a JP polished or a JP hardcoated.......But you telling me the OS has thinner walls. Is the material the OS is made from stronger than the ticker walled cheaper pipe is made out of.....
|
I could be wrong on the O.S. pipes being thin walled, I seen a couple dent easy so i assumed that they were thin. I have never owned one to compare.
|
Thick or thin I have seen very few of them get dented and I have not seen any of the WN version get dents yet.....
Sorry the thread got off topic for a minute but it was for a good reason GO Engines RULE |

nice to hear that Go Tech is trying rectify the issue with any leaking part, im close to buy either a New OS Spped Alu ed., main reason history ive had with them has been good, like most have said very easy to tune, reliable, and because its a 3port from what i recall it has that awsum instant take off when its tuned right and its just right for a technical track with fast corners and 2 big double doubles, so like said 7port for long flowing tracks and 3 or 5port engines for short fast technical tracks.
go tech i recall talking about them just when a racer Nig. asked, "what do you think about the Go Tech, do you think they may be alright engines?" not knowing alot about it until we just got them in to Aus. most engines if they do good in te first year that sets the image of a product, the effort and precision put in is vital, and now as i see it you guys at Go Tech have done 99% or now have a engine that is well performing at OS level and close to Novarossi, you tune it shit you will have it run that way , you do it the other way it ll be up there weeing with the top guns for sure. |
but in saying that ill buy a OS speed alu ed. reason being that not many shops stock them so if i see one ill grab one for sure!

What's the difference between the 5 port with black cooling head and the 5 port with silver cooling head?
How do i know that i'll get the newer carb with it? |
Ran my 5 port last night at practice. It's finally fully broken in. I put the Sportwerks 053 pipe on to test. Since Liesure Hours is an ultra high bite clay track that's kind of short and technical, but fast, I thought I'd try the 053.
What a great decision! The engine was even stronger on the bottom end and was quicker coming up to speed on the 110' back straight. An 053 is a great pipe for the 5 port on high bite indoor tracks! |
Right on Satoch, The 5port is a versitile engine for sure.
Vti-chris, There has never been a black cooling head 5port, If someone is selling it, its possible it was a prototype or something of that nature and you wouldn't really now what your getting. If you purchase the engine from a authorized dealer you should be getting the updated carb. |
What's the difference between the 5 port with black cooling head and the 5 port with silver cooling head? How do i know that i'll get the newer carb with it? It was an older revision .25 CXP 3 port. Had an alloy carbi which boiled the fuel cause it got too hot " BAD " this motor had serious grunt, not legal for racing buggy as it is too big. With a plastic body carbi it would have been so much better. Here is some pictures of my Old hyper 7 with that motor, is this the motor your on about? http://www.users.on.net/~danzig/nitro1.jpg The 3 port piston and sleeve i modified out of that motor before it banged on me. http://www.users.on.net/~danzig/Meh.jpg |
os pipes are very thick walled they are tougher than jp pipes
|
picked up my 7-port last night and it is waiting for me at home...dying to be broken in.
and of course it's raining today  |
