rossoh10, put an extra shim under the button head to relieve the compression.
After you have put a few more litres thru it , it will settle down and stop blowing plugs, then you can take the shim back out and it will be fine, had the same prob myself. |

Rossoh what was the engine temping when it was blowing plugs, its possible the engine went rich and that is why it wasn't performaing and blowing plugs. Also what plug were you using in the engine. Thanks.
Adding a head shim will definately help. |
What size head shim? There were no extras in my box
I am running a OS 8. Before the problem started I was running around 230..When it got cold I was barely pushing 200.Still had plenty of power but was burning plugs. When I lost all power it was 70 degress out. After the race the engine was smoking and didn`t temp it then because I knew it was hot. I took the engine apart and the plug was black and so was the piston. |
So a good idea would be to start from factory spec with a extra shim. Then retune
|
Its possible that the engine was blowing plugs because it was rich. If you were barely pushing 200f it was running rich and if it went flat on the track its possible that the engine was breaking in completely, It would have had to have gotton to 350f before you would have lost all power due to being lean. Adding a extra .1mm shim should help. As far as the piston being black, thats more of a fuel issue and not necessarily a temp issue, I have seen engines come of at 300f+ and pull the head off and there wasn't any black on the piston, and I have seen engine run perfect tune for a gallon and the piston is completely black.

Thanks Rocket What size shim should I add. Some of the guys said that they think my LSN was really lean because there wasn`t too much smoke coming from engine untill it got on the HSN.Once I got on the HSN there was god smoke....Thanks for all the help.I just need to know what size shim to add then I will start the retune process from factory specs

Hey Guys
Can anybody help me with my Go 7 Port engine tuning?,ive just moved to 8th gas from 10th electric TC so engine tuning is pretty new to me,Engine has been going well but this weekend it ran cold about 190F drank loads of fuel and seemed pretty gutless all round bottom end bogged and top end was nothing specail, what screws do i need to turn and which way, apoliges for the dumb questions im used to pluging and playing :) TIA Keep on wheeling :sneaky: :tire::tire::tire: |
rossoh, Add a .1mm shim or remove the existing .1mm shim and add a .2mm shim
Andrew, 190f is a little cold you never want to run the engine under 210f, you will want to lean the HSN about 2-3 hours on top, you alway tune your HSN for performance before adjusting the LSN. Its really hard to explain stuff online if there is some local guys you can ask go to them, if not PM your phone number and I can give you a call. |

how would you rate the go tech 3 port?
|
I don't see a listing for .1mm Go head shims. What other manufacturers shims will work?

The 3port sport was out of stock the day after it was added to amain's inventory. Does anyone know who else sells the 3port non pull start? I tried bmain, carolinas, and of course google but, don't know where else to look.
Also, is this motor the common ABC materials or similar to the OS VG (ABN I think)? Thanks in advance! |
So does the 5-port provide good torque? My VG .21 shot craps after 1/2 gallon. It looks like a ton of dirt passed through it. And I don't know how this would have happened. Unless the ports weren't deburred well enough from the factory. Well I was PO'd. So I need an engine for my truggy now and would like to try a GO for next year. Plus I'm ready for some big power now. The VG was ok but I need much more for truggy to be able to drive like I want.
