I have to say once we both did this we had all the power we needed and the low end bog was gone and kept a consistent tune throughout the entire race from then on. so from my experience set the low end and then tune with the hsn.

worked for me and my bro hope this helps any one else having the issue as well

This is what i recommended for petvette who sent me a PM , thaks by the way for taking the time Pete !

here is the response i sent to help with this problem

Hey Peter

Ok to me it sounds like you may have something in the HSN needle , maybe part of the rubber seal or dirt obstructing the fuel flow. Do you use a fuel filter ? if so try running without it and see what happens .. The situation also sounds like a rich bottom and lean top .

if the carb is clean and filter is not the problem then id try leaning the bottom end a touch and running a tad richer on top. What happens is once the engine is at temp the crank case will start to atomise fuel more readily and lean the engine off.. you should always tune from half tank once the engine is at temp. you may have already tried this but but if you havent , then give it a go .. We have the same engines here in AUS and never encountered this problem. id also check the front bearing , see if the rubber seal spins .. if it does then you need a new front bearing ..

hope this helps

Thanks for taking the time and please let me know what your results are ..

Cheers MM

well grizz so far the only engine weve had issues with are the 3port R's but with a couple of pipe changes and a tuning rethink we seem to have that sorted I'm also going to give the short LSN a try in the 3R this sunday to see if it makes any difference.

And as for Fuel mixed with MM oil all i can say is holy crap it changes the performance alot!!!

more consistant idle, runs cooler, spools up faster and the run time increased aswell

Adrian:tire:

Haha its a nice Drop eh Adrian ! thanks for the props bro !

Hey Mark - It must be our fresh down-under air :D We have heaps of Go's running here and I haven't heard of any problems. Most of us are running the model before the new Gen 5, but these still have the longer LSN fitted and are running great. 3's, 5's and 7's all going hard out.
Seen a few motors running your new oil recently in some tests using some local Go-Tech's and one VSpec engine - the boys seemed mighty impressed

Hahah plenty of fresh air in the beautiful NZ ! next stop Antarctica ! Go The Mighty All Blacks !

Yes thanks for the props re the new MM oil .. its amazing stuff .. we are now doing demos to sell the fuel by getting about 50 ml in a steel dish and setting a blow torch on it .. It takes a few mins at about 750 deg C to actually ignite ... thats what you call PROTECTION ! Amazing stuff !

That's impressive !!!! :flaming:

Go the mighty All Blacks !!!!! - Heh Massive, your the man !!

Tell you what else is impressive - the new 0801 pipe on my 7 Port :weird:
Fitted one today and tuned it in. WOW - I thought the 7 Port went pretty good with the 053, but this new 0801 pipe is the goods. Really makes this motor work, with snappy more powerful bottom (pretty much up to 5 port standards imo) and more grunt right through the range.
I am assuming they perform well on the 3's and 5's too, but anyone running the 7 Port should give one of these pipes a try for sure

Hey Adrian, we need to put this pipe on your 7 Port and compare it to the 2047 with the long header and see what you think. Should be a spare one floating around this Sunday at Hamilton if the weather gods are kind to us.

Main Bearing

In an earlier post, that nobody responded to. I stated that my GO 7 port seized because one of the two clips that holds the piston bearing in place apparently shot out while the engine was running and scratched the piss out of the sleeve and piston. I had only 1.5 gal. through it. What causes this and how is it prevented or do I just have shitty luck? Anyways, I have a new P/S/R kit on the way and I can't get the damned main bearing out to replace it with a TKO ceramic. I have tried heating the case with no luck. I don't want to destroy the thing getting the stupid bearing out. Is there a tool out there that will get this F@*#ing bearing out? :flaming:

vti-chris 07-01-2008 12:22 AM

It happens but rarely...for that clip to come off and ruin your engine.I've seen it in a few engines...although never on a GO but this means nothing....it can still happen to anyone.
Excesive heat or low luprication or dirt or bad assembly from the factory or bad part...all these can cause the clip to break and come off.

As for the rear bearing here is what you can do if you haven't done it already of course:
Heat the oven to 300F-350F and put the engine in for 5-10minutes.
Put a wooden block on a bench and hit the rear of the engine on it...it should come off.
If not, try to find a bearing tool to remove it or NOT SUGGESTED use a thin flat screw driver and hit the bearing from the front site of the engine. You should be able to see the small edge of the main bearing when viewed from the front.

ok my first race on my GO motor went GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! i only had one problem but after talking to skeller that problem was fixed. apparently when you break pinch these engines flood with fuel so i had to retune. after that all i can so is hold on these motors are wicked.

hey skeller like i said at the track that is one mean ptm 21 3r youve got. man it was haulin. hope to race with ya again soon in the near future

Dynamite 086 and/or the new Go 0801.

I had a similar problem this week with carb but not as bad. I had my carb flooding too. We first took the needles out and blew it out(not with airhose) and it ran alittle better, but we then found that my pipe was causing the problem. i was running the go 2047 and i changed to dyn 053mr and it smoothed out the motor and no more lean bog. The rest of the weekend was no more problems except my stupidity of running out of fuel in A Main lol thnx Will G

Go 5 Port or 7 Port for a truggy?

I was considering switching from Buggy to Truggy and would like feedback on the Go 5 Port and 7 Port for the truggy.

Which engine would be better overall for the truggy? I would be running a stock engine. I am thinking the 5 Port would be better, because it has very good low end power.

I am also hearing good things about the '08 version 7 Port with the 0801 pipe. Would the 7 Port have enough low end power for a truggy, especially on an indoor track?

grizz1 07-01-2008 02:18 PM

The 7 Port with 0801 would have enough power for a truggy, but I think most people prefer the 5 Port and 0801 or 086 pipe for the brutal bottom end the 5 Port has. I was running a 5 Port Turbo in my GS truggy with 086 pipe and it was plenty powerful (running 6mm restrictor too).
