A friend of mine wants to buy two GO engines...one for a buggy and one for a truggy?
I own the 3 port R but i'm not impressed from the low end power although it has more than enough power on mid-high end.

-For the buggy i was looking into the new 08' 5 port engine...have they upgraded the carb on this version...is it easier and better than the silver head 5 port?

-For the truggy i need your opinion on the most powerful GO >.21.

vti-chris, A lot of people say that about the 3 Port R. Here's my .2c worth:

Buggy, you can't go past the 7 Port Turbo. These things rock !! More than enough bottom for any buggy situation and a top end that just goes on and on. Everyone seems to be going hard on the 3 Ports in buggy, and the 7's are sort of a forgotten breed, but I would take the 7 Port T any day.

Can't comment on >.21 in truggy, never been there. The 5 Port Turbo had plenty of grunt for me in my truggy, plus we can't race anything bigger than .21 in truggy here anyway.

I think the 5 Ports have too much bottom for a lot of buggy applications.
The 7 port has nearly as much bottom as the 5, but just delivers it a little smoother, which for buggy is ideal.

The 7 port is the way to go on buggy. I have been consistently finishing 1st in the Amain with the 7 port used on a truggy, but I think it is more because the bottom end is nice and linear, so I am putting all the HP to the track. The top end on the 7 port with an 053 is insane. Nobody, including $600 modified motors can pull me down the straights.

At the top of this page someone said " old 5 port with the silver head" the 08 models don't have the silver head on them anymore? I wanted the silver head, just ordered a PTM 5 port yesterday.

This was my second weekend w/ one of Brian's PTM Go Tech '08 7 port, w/ Inovative Designs 6mm carb restrictor, Os P3 plug, Go Tech 0801 pipe and header, Byrons Gen 2 30% fuel.

I AM SO DAMN IMPRESSED!!! Just over 11 min. of run time!! Tons of Power!!!

I have been a Vspec fan for the past 3 years, Bye Bye OS, Hello Go Tech!!!!!

I never ran the older models that had Carb issues, but no problems w/ the '08 it holds a tune very well.

VTI-Chris, look at the Go 25. Brian @PTM modded 1 for my bud Jackie and he ran it this past weekend in his Xray Truggy. We were both impressed. I ran him a little long on his first pit stop, (8 min). No worries cause he could make 9 easy!!!! Tons of power for such good fuel milage.

Well found my issue with my GO 21 5 port. Turns out the engine is knackered. Holding the flywheel it turns over past TDC under it's own weight.

And all after just 2.5 gallons or so. Not impressed. Inside of the liner still looks great, just a little polished at TDC, otherwise perfect. Can't believe it's only lasted this long????

My 3 port SPORT has 8 gallons on it and is doing better then that. Mind you I used a heat gun to break it in.

Has anyone ran the 5 port or 7 port with a JP4 yet? I've been running the OS Speed .21 for two years with very good luck. However, I think it's time to find better mileage. Been getting 8-9 minutes in a Jammin X1X CRT. One of my running buddys has the new EB Mods Trinity ExTech in both his rides (losi 8's) and consistantly pulls 11+ minutes and has wicked power.
I've been looking at the Go Technology engines for some time now and can't make up my mind on what to try. From a $ standpoint the Go is a way better deal but that's not the issue. I'm looking for power and mileage.
Any suggestions?

I just ordered a PTM 5 port .21 for my truggy, it is said that it gives great mileage. Brian at PTM said that the 6 port .25 gives the same mileage though. I am not too shure about the .28's. From what I see and hear GO's are right there with the $500 mills.

My 3 port from Brian runs with or exceeds my factory v-spec. Much more linear powerband, its sort of like driving electric again. once I get my v-spec back from him for service ill be able to give you guys a side by side comparison, stay tuned. im bettin on the GO
