Well, just got my 3 port broken in and wow! Fantastic little engine! Loads of power and a good turn of speed, so looking forward to getting it on the track.
Had a slight accident however and dented my pipe, any way to sort that out? will it affect performance at all?
Thanks to Brandon for the help!

Paul

If you want to get the dent out, take off the pipe, fill it with some water and seal all the ends. Afterwards, stick it in the freezer and keep an eye on it. As the water freezes it will expand and push the dent out. As soon as you see the dent has been pushed out, make sure to take is out of the freezer because it can cause damage if you leave it too long.

Hi Mark (aka Massive Mods)

It's Saeyan from murwillumbah, thanks for prompt and efficient service. Ordered my GO 3 port R spec on Thursday morning at my door step by midday Friday, now that customer service.

Very happy with the motor so far great performance for the price. Its only had about 2.5 litres through it, tweaked high end by 3/4 turn and low end by 1 full turn. Once fully broken in I will tweak both high and low end further.

Super easy engine to break-in and an immense performance difference between the GO and the OS VG (P) which I owned previously, GO being better, very happy so far.

1 one more question, when I finally race tune should I turn my engine to 100% throttle opening or where I want the throttle to open to which is 75% and set end point from there. I noticed with 100% throttle and still in the break in procedure I was getting too much wheel spin, therefore I was not driving efficiently.

Thanks for all you help.

Hey Saeyan ! Thanks for the props ! The R Spec is a tidy engine , we cant keep up with the demand ! The engine will reach full power when you get to the 5 litre mark and yes you can tune it for power when you have 100% EPA on the THRottle then limit it to 75% after that ..

Ok cool. Good tip!

petevette, i also have a dent in my pipe, and was thinking of trying the freezer ideal. I was wandering what you use to seal up the ends of the pipe to keep the water in? Does it have to sealed tite, to prevent the seals popping before the dent would?
Sound like a great ideal...THANKS

I ran the stock 8mm insert and 086 pipe and it is awesome!
I may go to a 7mm this weekend and see what happens.

The biggest problem is the opening where the header attaches. The most important thing is to seal it so the water doesn't drain out, but once it starts to freeze it may push the seal out. That is okay since it is releasing pressure. It will still push out dents even though it breaks a seal on one of the openings. You can try a wood dowel or a bolt to take up most of the space. Wrap the bolt with plastic and tape the plastic to the pipe to help it seal up. I used the same method with the stinger just a smaller screw. Important thing is just to hold the water in while it freezes. Use fuel line and a small screw with the pressure fitting. Keep an eye on it while in the freezer. Eventually, the ice will expand too much and can damage the pipe if your not watching it.

Will G, I'm just getting a .25 broke in, I have been using the 086, and it seems like it's pretty much the all around pipe that I have had the best luck with. I'm going to try it on Saturday at the Nitro Pit series race, maybe it will be the engine I'll use at the Roar Trucks Nats in a few weeks at The Nitro Pit.

thanks veno i will see you there mine is just broke in i finished breaking it in at the nitro challenge and it seems good im going to run the 053 one and see what i can do i ran an off the wall pipe at the challenge called skyline and its suposed to be a all around pipe but is close to the jp-2 to me thnx for the help see you there thnx will g

aznitronut 03-21-2008 09:33 AM

Will, I have a Skyline pipe, not sure if it's the same one that you have, but it's just like a 053, good bottom, top end kinda lags, runs out to soon, the 086 has great bottom, and very linear, try one, I think you will like it. Have'nt tried another car insert yet, I want to see what the mileage is first, then decide, may go with a 7mm insert.

will g 03-21-2008 09:52 AM

i made right at 8 mins on 8mm carp insert motor is just breaking in with that skyline pipe

nitro0619 03-21-2008 10:42 PM

ran 3 qualifiers and a 10 min main tonight w/ the 3 port r in my 5R buggy. only about 1/2 gallon tilted green through it and so far i like this engine. plenty of bottom punch and pulls hard to the top. using an 053 pipe seems to work well!!!
