Still having problems with breakin on my .25 6port. I set the carb. to factory settings (1 turn in from flush hsn, 1 turn in from flush lsn) I also tried 3.25 to 3.5 turns out on hsn and 2 turns in from flush on lsn. No matter what setting as soon as I remove the glow plug the engine dies. I'm using a O.S. #8 plug. Should I remove the carb. and try sealent. What should I do?

slaytanic 03-10-2008 06:22 PM

Change your plug. That is a sure sign of a bad plug.

gewaun 03-10-2008 06:29 PM

Brand New O.S.#8 plug

British Menace 03-10-2008 06:38 PM

Maybe it is a new plug....but I'm afraid slaytanic is right. Sure sign of a bad plug!
Change the plug out....also #8 is very cold plug! Are you sure you need such a cold plug?

I would try a #7 if it's very hot where your running or a #6
Either way, you have a bad plug chief.....sorry.

For buggy it's great good smooth powerband all the way to full revs, to really see the top it can put out the 086 has been working very good for me, I'm running the 8 mm carb insert, you will lose some top going smaller but your runtimes will go up. Overall i'm very happy with it, i was a little cocerned at first but now the motor has 3+ gallons on it and it's winning races for me at our local track against all the big names, for the money, it's well worth it.

were did you get your motor i want to get one?

tonyy 03-10-2008 07:04 PM

Changed plug new O.S.#8 still same problem. Iwas told to breakin with Go #5 or O.S. #8. Had to go with o.s.#8, GO#5 is never in stock at amainhobbies.

Is your idle set right? I tend to turn my idle up to keep my motors running for break in. Is your engine getting fuel? Its possible you have an air leak. Check all openings that arent sealed tank cover fuel line inline filter etc.

I sell GO's stock and modded

If the motor is dead after you remove the plug, yes the plug may be bad. Like said befor bump the idel a few notches and use an OS A3 for breakin and racing, i have had good luck with those on standard buttons, and be sure your heating the motor and have foil on the heat for better heat saturation:nod:

Having some trouble with my 5 port turbo killing glow plugs. It is a standard 5 port with the turbo head fitted. Running LRP #6 turbo plugs. I left the standard factory shims in when I fitted the turbo head. Runs great, no flame outs or problems, but quite often after an extended run (2 or 3 tanks) when I shut the motor off, I find when I go to restart it that the plug is dead. Running 25% fuel, ambient temps are around 22 - 27 deg C at present. Motor running strong and temping around 110 - 115 deg C. I am thinking maybe I should add a thin shim - any idea's guys ??

GenReaper 03-11-2008 04:32 AM

If it is new Griz that will happen a bit till broken in.
I would add the shim if its new and remove it when its done some miles.
Are the glow plug coils impacted up into the glow plug hole?
If so its a sure sign of too much compression.

Hey Guys.

I have an issue with my 3pt...

It will idle ok... but as its rev'ed it dies... as soon as full throttle is hit... no matter what i do :S

I've pulled the carby out and sealed it with RTV and also RTV'ed the back plate....

Re-set the LSN and HSN to factory, tried new plugs... and still nothing... same problem no matter where the needles are :S

My GO 5pt is awesome, never had any issue... so i am more than a little confused

Glenn

Check your piston isnt in backwards, i know that sounds stupid but thats what it sounds like to me.
If you dont live a million miles away i could come for a look and help you out.
Im easy your call.

Also Grizz how are you shutting down the engine. I know I've seen that problem sometimes when you kill it by plugging the exhaust. I always use my shoe on the flywheel.
