Default Track is Ready

Kody and I tidied up the track this afternoon. We refined the layout a little which should add a few tenths to the lap times, but it also moves the infield apexes off the tape seams.

The doors open at 7 am. I am planning on Burgermaster on Sandpoint Way at 6 am if anyone wants to meet up before the race. They have a full breakfast menu and good coffee. It's right next to the Safeway, just past U-Village, only five minutes from the hangar.

Open practice tonight from 6 to 10. We have timing and scoring this evening, too.

This should be a great race!

Just want to say good luck for tomorrow and congrat's on all the hard work ypu guy's did to put the club together. SURE wish we could be there, I still think a couple of our gang are trying to rally and get up there. There was no way I could get out of the commitment with the women(she'd kill me), and the work party we scheduled a couple months ago snuck right up on us.

Hope you can get another Saturday race on the calander and I know she owes me one now.

Let me just be the first to say that was a pretty good day of racing. The carpet seemed to improve as the day wore on. One of the cars that seem the most sensitive is the 12th scale. Some of the safe guards were let down by the time the mains came around. I counted 48 entries spread through a 17.5 sedan, wgt, a mixed trans-am/F1 and 12th scale had the biggest bragging rights with a full A and B mains. The catered lunch by Mrs. Mason was a nice touch.... and wins my heart through my stomach every time. Once again, this appears to be a great family atmosphere with kids, wives and husbands all spending the day together at the race track. Korey took the 17.5 class, Mark took TA while the other Mark took F1, Kody ko'ed the wgt field while Kody and I went 8 minutes in 12th only to be decided by a mere .9th of a second as Kody racked up 2 victories for the day.

Thanks for the great day Todd! Thanks to Todd, Kody and Korey for the time on the mic. I have a bunch of pictures, but I need to check them out first.

Default Great Race, Great Club, Great Time

Such a fun day! And it was raining this morning. Bill Evans and I ducked into Burgermaster with wet coats on our backs.

There's a lot of credit to give to those who help put this on, but let me express my appreciation for those who came out to race and made the hard work worth it. Jacko gets the long distance prize, but it's no easy leg up for those who drove from Olympia, or Bellingham either.

And I really want to thank those who brought their kids. It's awesome to have the whole range of experience and age in the same place enjoying this hobby and sport. Just look at today, from the absolute greenest novices to the cracking fastest whips. Good stuff. I'm a father too, and I know it can be a lot of work to bring kids along in hands-on activities like RC racing. Sometimes you'd trade just about anything for your son or daughter to have five more minutes of attention span. Or you'd trade them for five minutes to work on your own stuff. But it's the right and good choice to have them out, and so long as this club is around, the kids will always be welcome.

Some fast laps were laid down today. Harbke got it done in TC, Kody railed his WGT, and Bodine and Kody had a dogfight in 1/12th. And speaking of: I'd say we're on our way to building a genuine obsessive-compulsive-afflicted-twitchy-eyed-geeked-out-1/12th scale-secret-handshake subculture around here. Personally, I think it's the Paragon. Or the smooth track. Whatever, but something is working. Beautiful.

Thanks for coming out and racing with us. See you all again.

Todd M.

Hey Guys,

Wow... That was a fun day! Great racing all around with good people. Even with a few technical difficulties we were able to get it done! Big props to Todd and his wife. Todd for his hard work for the club and his wife for the great grub yesterday. Also thanks to all the guys that helped set up and pull down the track.

Here are all the mains from our first Saturday race.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone that contributed to this event. I've never gotten up so early to race rc, and I was wondering how it could possibly be worth it....but it was more than worth it. We are really fortunate to have such an enthusiastic crew. Todd, thanks again for allowing me to use (abuse?) your t-fource....I'm hooked. Also, thank you to everyone that endured my 1/12 tech questions and all that hooked me up with advice and parts.

Here's a series of pic's in no particular order. My camera is old and does not have a good flash.... so just imagine that it was really a $1500 camera instead!
