That's true. Maybe I'll give those a try again. I should order some longer ball studs for my inner camber links. I want to try really correcting the geometry for the taller tires.
John seems to have a magical set that's a few years old and gets perfectly even wear.
Not sure what you mean. The X-Patterns are a touch taller even than the VTA tires. They are lighter (including the rim) and handle a bit more aggressively, but can be more prone to traction roll on carpet. They also tend to wear very fast and very unevenly.

I seriously don't know why they last so long, but I am NOT complaining haha. They were run on asphalt a couple times, and have now had a full indoor season on them, and they show the slightest wear on the outside edges (tread going down). Granted, the rims are cracked like crazy. Oh yeah, turns out I ran most of last season with them partially unglued. <3 scale spec.
I prefer the xpatterns because its closer to touring tires than the VTA style treads. Basically, a touring stock setup is magic for my scale spec setup... which is why I love running it so much. GT bodies, stock competition racing.

When you do eventually kill those tires, I got dibs on cutting them open. :P

I like the look of these wheels.
3mm offset for the front? Will they fit under 200mm body?

Hangar 30, Round 9 Results
The word is starting to get out about our little Hangar 30 program: the program offers a full night of racing in only a few hours, grip is good, and the racing fierce and fair. We continue to see racers who are new to the Hanger come down and register, and lately we have also been on a role with Novice racers. This week we saw 5 novice drivers, all new to the H30 program, and three experienced racers making their debut under the (newly renovated) lights. 35 entries across 27 total racers made this our biggest night this season – thanks as always to everyone who participates in the program, setup and of course the racing.
The Novice field was the largest we’ve had all year, and also provided the most diversity. We had the usual compliment of shiny new scale spec cars, but in addition a 1/12 scale chassis and a Stock Touring sedan with 17.5 power entered the mix. The huge variations in corner and straightaway speeds made for some entertaining mis-matches. Zach Mikker claimed pole in a headlight-equipped Subaru STI, with Larry Vodder giving chase in a Stock Touring configured 17.5 car. On the straights it looked like Larry was going to have Zach for lunch, but Zach’s consistent lines throughout the infield were enough to manage the gap and claim the win with a 23/5:09. (Note: Zach’s performance in the main, if run in the 6:00 Scale Spec B Main, would have earned him 6th place out of 8 cars.)
Stock 1/12 class returned after a conspicuous absence earlier in the month with a close battle for the #2 spot. Todd Mason locked out TQ, fast lap, and the win in the main with a trio of clean runs. Bill Swadener and Stuart Mason, however, locked horns in the main and slugged it out for a full 8 minutes to decide who was best. Stuart’s raw speed in the qualifiers earned him the 2nd grid spot in the Main, Bill in 3rd. At the start, Todd decided to put as much distance between himself and the pending battle as possible, creating a comfortable gap in the fire few laps. About 10 laps in, a pair of unforced errors placed Stuart on the back foot, allowing Bill to pounce. After running in 2nd for a few laps, Stuart got the position back and help it for 20 laps. An altercation with a couple dots and a pipe, combined with a healthy dose of gravity landed Stuart on his lid for an agonizing half lap, which was all Bill needed to assume 2nd with a hard-charging Stuart eating into the margins with each passing lap. In the end there just wasn’t enough time, with Bill closing it out with a 4 second gap at the finish.
Stock Touring saw Track Record holder Mike Ruete, take TQ and fast lap for the night. Not content with a grand slam, Mike also reset track record with a blistering 37/6:08.54, 2 ½ laps clear of the second place qualifier. In the main, Mike showed that being quick also means knowing how and when to pass slower cars in traffic, with only one bobble costing any significant amount of time. The battle for 2nd was a three way affair between Scott Howell, Jacob Reyes, and Bill Swadener. Bill and Jacob traded spots until a major off-track excursion dropped Bill from 2nd to 6th. Jacob and Scott capitalized on the situation, each taking a turn in the 2 spot. Every racer knows that slicing and dicing may be fun, but it isn’t the quickest way around the circuit. Jacob and Scott’s duel cost them both a bit of time, allowing Bill to quietly clip off several minutes of clean laps, and with 2:00 left had managed to eliminate the gap and work his way past.
In the end, Mike could have stopped for a tire change and still taken the win, finishing two laps clear of the field. Bill 2nd, Jacob 3rd, Scott 4th.
World GT was once again a showdown between Todd and Brian Bodine, refreshed after some time away from the club racing scene. Brian has been working on his setup and it showed as he was on-form throughout the night. Never one to rest on his laurels, Todd kept it clean and fast most of the night, even grabbing fast lap in the main, but it wasn’t enough to rival the Slapmaster. Final results were Brian in 1st, Todd 2nd, Stuart 3rd and Brian Dyche 4th.
The Scale Spec Mains started with Scott Howell taking a decisive win in the B, and claiming the bump to the A. The A Main was all about the battle between Lem Cabugon and Mark Brown. Lem qualified 2nd, Mark 1st, and they pushed each other hard through a very full field of cars battling for their piece of the pie. Lem and Mark each managed to turn nearly identical fast laps, but an unfortunate altercation with lapped cars battling for their own position, left Lem on the receiving end of some very bad luck. Mark emerged unscathed and with the win, Lem 2nd, Jacob Reyes 3rd and Chris Perry 4th. Please note the A-Main Scale Spec results did not make it into the final results from RC Scoring pro, so a photo of the in-screen results is attached as a substitute. Apologies for the lost timing info, we’re getting better with each race and are confident it won’t happen again.

I had a lot of fun racing with you guys on Wednesday. Thanks again to Mike Reute for the help getting my TC5 out of the weeds. It was pretty decent after some guidance, especially since I hadn't run a TC of any sort since I ran a XXX-S G+ at Rain City most of 10 years ago. One of these days I'll figure out how to make a pan car work, until then I'll be bugging Brian for WGT setup tips to substitute for my poor driving. Going from 2wd off road to carpet on road is more challenging than I had anticipated.
