Cool. I guess the box setup understeers a little and more so with the kit tires. I used my tried and tested Speedmind tires (40 shore rear and front), the car hooked up pretty well on the track with stock settings.

From the setups on mytsn by team Serpent drivers, I noticed that they are trying to make the rear end stiffer and the front end loose. I believe the rear end has too much grip which makes for much understeering of the car.

Mark, I took a look the first time the FAQ was rearranged and I must say that you did one hell of an impressive job !

One additional note... Does PDF allow active links to be made so that one just has to click the link to get the browser to come out? Also, run the doc through a spell checker ! Not obvious mistakes just minor spelling errors from typing.;)

Hi guys i have a question for all the 710 owners Im thinking of buying this car I currently race an MTX-3

I would like to know if this kit is hard to assemble by that I mean the rear diff centax and the front bulkhead.

I was also told that this car is extremely underweight due to the plastic being hollow and weaker than previous models back.

What are your guys opinion on RB engines? What engines do you guys run on your 710's

thx :)

I've got this one in mind, I'm looking into it to see which options I need to set.
I'll be going through the doc to check for grammar and spelling mistakes on one of those rainy Sunday afternoons which come around so often

The FAQ has become pretty static now, so there isn't too much work left to do.

I think I may a of section, like "don't waste your money on Ti Screws, they only save you 10 gramms"

Cheers, Mark.

Hollow plastic!!! Extremely underweight!!    Hmm, some pretty strange rumours going around. No hollow plastic on my 710 and it is still the legal side of the weight allowence.

The kit is very easy to build, especially if you follow the extra tips given in the FAQ document which I just posted a couple of messages ago.
As for the details of Centax building, I'll let the others answer this one, as I'm still waiting for my Engine!

From my experience, the car went together without any problems and took hardly any time. I was very impressed!!!

Cheers, Mark.

Half the track's missing!

The infield section looks really good!!

Hmm, I think I'm going to have to add a Wife/Girlfriend section to the FAQ - tips and excuses

hudy 03-25-2004 11:26 PM

what do you guys think of RB engines?

BaxterC 03-25-2004 11:40 PM

I AM PLACING MY ORDER TODAY!!!   :D :D :D I cant wait... I will post what I ordered once I click on the 'confirm' button. As to engines we run... They are all 0.12 high end motors, as the serpent 710 is a race bred car and it would be stoopid to install a weak motor in it.

Anyways... Guys check out the 'extreme modification' thread as there are some interresting things going on

SupermaxxRich 03-26-2004 12:01 AM

Well, for the first time I actually put it all together with the clip on the end of the shaft. Then I loosened the brake hex set screw and drive belt pulley set screw and took all the slack out of the shaft so that the gears wouldn't move back and forth(took all the slack out but didn't preload the bearings;) ) That seemed to get rid of most of the wobble with the second gear. Now its pretty good, just a small amount of wobble. The first gear still wobbles but has play with the oneway bearing and the shaft wich allows the first gear to move around a bit. I can actually get it to run true by pushing the first gear with my finger. So I think once the engine is actually running that the gears will straighten right out.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see once I get her up and running?:sneaky: But I think it will be OK.
The reason I think the second gear wobbles so much when it doesn't have something pushing against it is that the 6x13 bearing fits loosely into the gear. I could tell the gear had some machining issues where the bearings go into. Thanks guys for everything. Now its time to install the engine and then go to bed! Its 12 AM and I have to get up and 5:30AM!!!!! Later...
