thanks for the reply,
so does this mean when i use 22/47 at the rear... the side i should put 22F/21R and the optional 18T at the front to compansate???:confused:
the rear belt with 22/47 conf is very good fit and not too tight... still cant find the 45T gear diff pulley... thanks,

cheers,
ck

your new front internal gear ratio would be 2.037
and your rear internal gear ratio would be 2.136

different by 0.1 it means alot for the car and I think it will create a lot of drag

if you have rear drive pully of 23T then you can achive a close ratio which is 2.043. different by 0.01

the 710 rear gear diff 802600

hope it helps

set the 2nd gear engeage slightly later using only your first gear (6.5 ratio) to push the car futher and runing 21/55 in your 2nd gear will be nice.

having closer both gear ratio you won't experiencing a drop in your engine rpm when 2nd speed kicks in. momentum will be carried all the way -up..

have fun..

thanks, u have been great help...
with the new drive ratio... my current setup is using both gear diff 30k F and 10k R... the car handles quite good to my driving style i like the accer and mid it gives me;);)

cant find a 23T but maybe i'll try 18T front and 22f/21r to get the ratio closer and play with tire size 2 to 3mm diff (this is calculated from the serpent drive cal)?? is it ok this way?? between, how do u get those numbers?? thanks,

cheers,

what i mean here is if you run 35/18 (front pulley) and 22/21 (side pulley), you will get front of 2.037 internal ratio. Xray use to call "DTR ratio" 2.05.

calculation for internal gear ratio is front (35/18)*(22/21) = 2.037
rear (47/22) = 2.136
(47/23) = 2.043

calculation for final gear ratio = (spear/pinion)*(internal gear ratio above)

I have been searching for 23T even some parts from 705 but not available.

again hope these help your research...

I have had my 710 for 3 or 4 months now and run it on sunday race days and practice tuesdays.
My front belt has been coming off quite a bit lately. I have the front cams set at the tightest postion. I run a front diff.
Are the kit belts lower quality than the replacement ones? Or is this normal?
Why dont the diffs have guides to keep the belt on??

i know this is an old thread but figured i would try anyway... does anyone have a good starting point for gearing on a 160ish foot straight and pretty open and flowing in field? i ran the stock gearing last weekend and 1st is really snappy off the corner but second seems to run out of stream about 3/4 down the straight... any info would be really helpfull thanks

Hi,

I've been thinking of buying a 710 RTR. It comes with a Mega SP12 but I have to buy a starter box separetly. My LHS sells the black starter box, not the grey/silver one. Does it work for the 710?

Also, if anyone has got a Mega SP12 or a 710 that came with the Mega SP12, can you please tell me if the engine is anygood and if its fast and durable.

Depending on the track and your driving, you might find a few good ones at 3hobby.net ... look under "Setup Sheets" in the Downloads section.

hey, i just picked up a serpent 710 from someone on the site. i am having some problems with the rear end. when i start the car and hit the throttle the front wheels move like they should. the rear wheels barely move. i am new with these type of cars my last nitro touring car was a ntc3 so im going from shaft to belt. All the belts are in the right place. any help is appreciated. thanks

Pillbots 01-21-2008 02:45 PM

Check the rear belt isn't stripped (no teeth in some parts).

NitroMaxx3.3 01-21-2008 02:53 PM

the belt looks to be brand new

The pulleys have set screw on them. Make sure they are all tight and hitting the flat spot of the shafts.
