Smile Chassis flex

The mtx5 chassis flex and out of shape easily if you hit a curb or when the car went off track. Anyone know where to get thicker chassis plate for mtx5?

Thanks

Hi

Chassis flex is THE most dificult part in car design. Mugen Seiki (by Robert Pietsch) designed it that way, so, i don´t see why chaging it... Really... More so if you realise thar this chassis won the european championship in it´s debut.

Best regards

The 5 has a lot of flex, like what has been said it was designed that way, it's the complete opposite of say the Capricorn, which is built like a brick, different schools of thought, both will work if you work with it, and not against it.

I think that's what Kerry is referring to, he was quite taken by surprise about how stiff it is. It's as stiff as a brick; and some other MTX5 drivers today were also amazed about the difference between the two.

Where were you today? We were waiting for you.

Kindest regards,
Lars.

Mugen will be releasing optional chasis brace in the coming weeks!
So for those who don't want too much flex therell be an option

I'm both surprised and yet not surprised at the same time, many were always going to see the flex as a flaw, or have issues with it, so really the car could work just fine but people would still want to brace it, like some have already done.

You only have to hope Mugen come up with a neat looking solution, and not an ugly tack on to a very good looking chassis.

Default Using other clutches on the MTX5

Hi All

Can someone confirm that you can use other clutches (Sirio, Capricorn etc...) on the MTX 5.

I only ask as the MTX 5 clutch does look rather long ???

Thanks

as long as both sides measure the same i see no problem using 27 or 28mm, it also depends on the amount of downstops you are using, the less downstops the closer

Run them longer, that is what I did, they just touch at kit spec.

Not at this stage, not only in the clutch bell long, but the spur gears are set a fair way out compared to the old 4 and other cars, there is likely a reason they did this, not sure why.

My guess in companies like Cap may bring out a clutch bell to suit the 5 soonish, maybe.
