With the steering servo, i went to my LHS and they didn't have any suitable. What i ended up doing was using a 3x6mm screw and removing the 2mm spacer and it no longer hits the servo. Appreciate assistance |

Help!!
Can someone please help me and a couple of my race buddies that have new MTX-5's! We keep stripping second gear :flaming:!!! We're pretty experienced in the hobby, but we can't seem to figure out the problem!

finally the kick when the 2speed engages is way too much, you should space the 2speed shoes more! let me know how it goes as half a gallon and still no problem with spurs or diff gears! |
Mine was doing good on the gears, but a friend had a drive and it stripped second, two things may have contributed to it though, one is it dropped a rear bulkhead chassis screw, two is it's still got the offset drilled clutch end stopper, either could have caused it I'm guessing, or contributed to it, he was also jumping a curb or two.

Hi
Had first run with my MTX5 today.... very happy with how it was out of the box with some changes i made to shocks and front diff oil. One thing i have noticed is how much the chassis flexes with the servo applying brakes. I played with EPA adjustment to see if this was the casue an it still did it. I am still bedding the pads in so maybe things will sort themselves out in the end. It looks like my 2 speed shaft might have bent, i will have to have a closer inspecation. For those having issues with stripping gears i would check your too speed shaft as i don't believe enough support in this area.... Thanxs |
if you are stripping gears do the following:
mesh the large gear against the pinion with the smaller gear taken off the shaft. Space engine and gear so that there is no play, but enough space so that there is no binding. unscrew the grub screws on the 2 speed shoe so that there is no gap between the shoes and the cam make sure you run pinion gears which aren't worn finally, make sure you space out the large spur gear with a .1 or .2 spacer. space it out until the large spur gear is flush with the edge where the E clip goes on the shaft. done! |
Collet
Does anyone know if Mugen have a collet for a Picco engine for the MTX5? Everything i had here seems to have the wrong taper for the flywheel...

Hi
I ran a few more tanks through my MTX5 today.... Car has a massive amount of flex in the rear now. If you hold it in your hands you can feel the rear flex, i have never had a car do this... well i have a GV BV1 that does, but it is cheap junk! Thanxs |
broken rear shock tower
used mine for the first time on the weekend and the car was great but had a roll over and broke the shock tower at the top and directly thru the top mounting hole of the tower

Mtx-5 chassis flex
Mtx-5 chassis is very weak and flex too much. And don't hit curb or don't do any bang from direct front or rear crash. Or else u will bend the chassis plate.
One thing you can do is. Get a ball link attached to the right hand upper deck at the handle side and tie it on next to the brake lever. Let see how to get pic in here. Will try post some pic. That help a bit but if u can get 5 mm chassis plate that will solve the flex problem |

You need to dremel the collet to make it shorter so it fit on the fly wheel and not overlap it . Dremel it on top , the smaller cone. Not on bottom of collet. |
Ok thinking that my hiatus from the game may have to end soon. I have a few questions since I have tons of MTX4 parts
Are there any parts that can be used once I go for the MTX5??? Just feeling out opinions of the new car as well, thanks in advance...:sneaky::sweat: |
