Just picked up a mtx-5 and pretty stocked on the purchase. Does anyone have a good set-up for GLARCR in Los Angeles they would not mind sharing? Also any upgrade parts that the car needs that would be considered an absolute have to? Thanks!

I finished fourth at the Nationals at the GLARCR and my set up is pretty similar to SedanLife's but..
Front:
Shocks in the top hole
1 degree toe out on each side
front roll centers in the top position
35 front shore
199 track width.
Rear:
2.25 toe in on each side
2.3 sway bar
200 track width
37 shore tire

I ran this for the quals and for the hour long main ran
front left 37
front right 35
rear left 42
rear left at 40

15/20 and the middle set of spur gears (im at work and cant remember what they are)

After a hour long race I wore my rear tire down to 53 mm!! ( I started at 63.5)

Yes the P37 is the body to use there with our cars. Spark could work well if you were to use 32/ 37 tire combo
Good luck
Steve

Thanks for the help! from everyone so far.

I apologize about this question but I wanted some clarity to that part of your setup. Does this mean that you ran 4 different shore compounds all the way around your car or is this another setting on the car?

Thanks!

I just ran four different compounds all around for the main. I tracked tire wear throughout the weekend and had a good idea of what to run. The problem was that my outside rear tire wore x2 more than my inside. I opted to not do a tire change and my pit guy figured out what shores and tire sizes to run for the hour. Luckily , the car worked and I made it through the hour main before running on the rim.

Sorry Bert I'm not like the other guys that u have seen with the 5 stripping gears and u know that. That "guy" at the regionals with the 5 didn't strip gears either!

He didn't strip any gears and was stupid fast, but was blowing out his rear diff every run, 3 or 4 if I heard correctly.
The traction on the second day got so high that lap times dropped almost 2 seconds, I had a fun weekend and I'm sure everyone did. I don't drive a mugen but the guy you are talking about with it was a sight to see.

NITTO550 10-02-2013 06:30 PM

Hey Joe what's up! I heard he was running the car box stock and probably composite diff gears in the rear. I use steel diff gears in the rear and composite in the front. I used the same gears in the front for two seasons before they blew.

bertrandsv87 10-02-2013 06:51 PM

No diffs blown in my Ntc3(ball diff) yet , but with high traction, gear diffs will wear fast ... I saw those 8scales traction rolling too...wow.... Too much traction !!!

Yea I think I heard he built it in the pits that day LOL.
There's nothing wrong with this car, I only went xray cause it's my my first full season and wanted a car that I can get help with.
For next season I'm considering a mugen, especially if a new ones coming out. Either that or serpent 747, but as of this moment Capricorn is at the top of my list with mugen not far behind (mtx5r that is)
