another strange post, may i suggest you re-read the instructions, as the clutch i built as per the instructions spins freely, although i reduced my end float from .5 to .3
Mugen manual is a clear as mud when it comes to setting up the clutch, standard centax stuff I'd say applies though, leave out inner bearings when setting your clutch gap of around .5mm, your measuring from the bell being able to bite on the shoe to it hard against the thrust bearing. Once set put back the two inside bearings then shim out the play in the gap your just created/adjusted using shims behind those two inside bearings till it's like .1mm. Am I wrong with any of that?, when I learned centax theory it did my head in till I understood how it worked, though some of the finer details of how all the slip and grip translates to performance still eludes me. |
carbon Disc wheel
This is a very interesting concept.
My question is would the net result/effect be just the same as having a solid wheel? or simply adding circular lexan around the wheel? |
When you go with a solid wheel this changes the handling of the car. More plastic means a stiffer rim and a heavier rim. Some tire makes provide a solid disc or sticker that covers an open wheel. I myself like a spoke rim "kyosho style"
Pass you soon... |
You all knew thia WAS coming
Can the MTX5 knuckles fit the Capricorn without fitment issues. By that I mean outdrives and bearing fit?

Mazda, i've just installed my engine i noticed this also, i made sure the carby pivot ball was not touching the tank at full extension, that the throttle end point was not excessive or that anything else was binding, but it still did it.
ChookGreg, i double checked the clutch, the clutch shoe wasn't seated right this is why it was binding. i was used to the xray clutch shoe which just sat in the pressure plate, i didn't realise the mtx5 shoe went pressed into the pressure plate. Chook, thanks for the patronising help:rolleyes::smile: it's guys like you that make forum use really easy and approachable. PS: chookgreg I might have gotten the gears mixed up, what i mean was when the clutch is pushed out the big pinion can make contact with the big spur....is that clearer? For your information my big pinion made contact with my big spur when the clutch was in full extension...sorry for the lack of technical knowledge of the gears. I hope that eases your anger and dismay at my original post Chook ;) |
Tomb good to see your finding all these faults/issues
i may change to the mtx5 after nationals.. i even thought about getting one just to do back to back testing with at the nats |
Just get one now John. You won't regret it bro. If your free next weekend I can get you to try mine at Mongbank or Whalan. Just PM me. Chances are you will be atleast .5 secs quicker;)
|

i may change to the mtx5 after nationals.. i even thought about getting one just to do back to back testing with at the nats I recon the MTX5 will be quicker than the NT1, i think it will steer more agressively also, and overall have more grip. From what Danjoy has said so far, it sounds like this is correct. The one thing i loved about the MTX4 is it's ability to grip well and drive well from mid corner to exit of corners. When i had the NT1 i never really had the amount of rear end grip as i had with the 4. I did find though that the NT1 transitioned better through fast changing corners. |
Yes pietch dominated the euros, but the other 2 mugen drivers (1 is a national italian champion) didnt even make the semis.
Ill wait till you find all the bugs first :) in the meantime i love my capricorn, it has tonnes of steering and grip. its the first car i can say that i only run 2 degrees toe in the rear and it is so planted. the nt1 wouldnt grip up untill i ran -4 + toe in |

in addition, the car was only released less than a month prior to the Euros so i'm sure the other 2 drivers are under-prepared for the race.Plus,Rick V hasnt even raced 1/10 scale for 2 years, and was using the practice sessions to adjust himself. and in the finals,a single Mugen up against 8 NT1s and win it,does say alot doesnt it?:sneaky: and Fukuda also just won the JMRCA like last week with the MTX5. I am sure,Mugen has made our wait worthwhile.:) |
Third body post...

My new body shell felt awful to pick up and fuel without, so did something using some shims and a servo arm. Doesnt this, your way, blocks the movement of the servo saver? |
