With 2 Sanwa SRG-BLS servos, the new Sanwa RX-471 receiver and a LRP LiFePo 1600 rx-pack the balance is almost perfect.

But I think this also depends on the engine and pipe you are using.
With LRP ZZ.12X engine and LRP #2669 pipe I just need to ad around 8 grams to the left side of the car to have it perfectly balanced.

Total weight with a regular weight Protoform P37R body and sole rims is 1.657g.

With a couple of Savox LP's and a LiFe pack, the car will balance out quite well left to right, but the right front is also a bit light, I think you could possibly get a better all around balance with a full sized steering servo, though have not tried yet.

But, considering weight limits have finally gone down here, I no longer need to run the two 20gram Mugen weights now, which is nice, may not even need my center weight, this may allow moving around some smaller lead weights to even out the weight as much as possible.

i use 3000mah (nimh).. It is lightweight with the power needed...

leaking diffs
 

how do you stop the diffs from leaking? have tried the longer screws and they still leak,also have found that the screw strip very easily as well

there is updated diff case, T2201-B Diff Case.. make sure B cap is for front diff and D cap is for rear diff. when you close the diff there should be a snap when it is seated properly.. dont over tighten screws .. screw in x pattern when tighting. hand tight. screw should not strip easily if using correct size screwdriver..

Why not just use life or lipo.

I also like to drill a small hole through the diff case screw holes so the diff oil does not get trapped under the screw , preventing the screw from tightening down.. I'm also glad to see more and more people are picking up the mtx5. It's a great car once you figure it out

weight.. and among other things I use what is available and working well. I make my packs from matched cells. plenty of power for receiver battery

hi we used 1100 ma life at nats and I was worried it would not go the distance but we ran the final and it was still working at the end but it rubs on side belt if you are not careful is very light but I was going to put 1600 life in so I did not have to worry next time 1100 is shorter but wider than 1600

A 1600life is more than enough for an hour main, easy.

I tried longer screws but found that just tightening them more just bows the cap and leaks like crazy.
Have a look at it side on, you will see if it is bowed so as the other posting said NOT to tight, not to lose, like Goldielocks said just right. And even is important too.
I use titanium screws from 3 racing I think 10 mm long.
Also check for mold dags, small imperfections in the end of the main housing just a small piec of a dag will cause a leak. I like to gently sand the end of the diff housing with 1200 wet and dry. Get a good flat surface and a clean pece of 1200 and just a sand it until you see that the whole face is nice and flat.
I also use some flange sealer, it's like silastic but much thinner and does not realy dry like silastic. Put a smal amount on two fingers then wipe a clean gasket between your fingers, just a smear of sealer nice and even. Since I build them this way no more leaks. A bit of over kill ? Yes, but that's how I roll. ( BANG, BANG )
Take care not to spill silicon every where.
But drilling out the screw holes is a good idea too. Just use the right size dril don't make the hole any bigger you just want any trapped silicon and air out and so you don't stop the screw from being able to do up tight.
The - B upgrade only makes the rear diff stronger on the side the brake spline is on. But do check the markings one the diff caps make sue the D and the B cap are on the right housing.
And they use longer screws in the later kits I think.

How are the plastic diff gears in the front diff.

For me the plastic gears in the rear diff has not had good results, but I ran them in the front for a complete season without an issue. I will continue to run plastic in the front.

I have not... The diffs are very easy to access.. I have 2 sets of diffs built always so i can swap when I rebuild\inspect the car before the main.. The diffs hold up well under alot of strain...you can change the front diff in less then 5 mins without touching the radio plate
