Folks,

I tried my best to bomb-proof my NB48 fuel tank over the weekend. I replaced the stock clunk line with some thicker line, and added in a "fuel tube grommet" over the fittings as others were suggesting. I also drilled out the mounting holes slightly and used the XRAY fuel tank grommets (http://www.amain.com/product_info.ph...ting-Grommet-4) for extra shock support. I'm nervous that with these grommets my tank might have a bit too much play. Below is a video of me moving it back and forth. What do you guys think..too much play? not enough? or just right? Thanks for your help.

Seems fine to me, I would suggest staying with the o-rings provided instead of xray grommets, also I use some molly grease between the o-rings, but just a little bit.

I know I am a little late but I agree "looks perfect". I did the same thing but used the JQ Products Grommet.

Tank update:
Hi everyone,

Our tank molds are undergoing modification and it's taking a little longer than expected. The updated tank will feature a grommet instead of o-rings (we had to make a new mold for the grommet too). We are updating the sealing mechanism. We added about 3ml of capacity since the tank was a little on the small side. You should still be under the 125cc limit with normal fuel tube routing. That's about it. We are expecting some samples later this week. If all goes well, production will commence and we'll have delivery shortly after.

More info as we have it. Thanks for your patience and support.

If I just built my NB48 and plan to start break in process this weekend what changes should I make to the fuel tank to avoid problems? I did open up the mounting holes...

Any other changes to the stock set up I should know about or change before I start running the nb48?

I would say install per the instructions. Avoid hard flat landings and you should be fine for break-in. If you're running beyond break-in, do the clunk mod, maybe boil the tank (this helped at PNB this weekend), put an additional o-ring on top of the mounting tab.

Jsk,

I noticed you have the buku clutch on your buggy. I tried to put one on mine, but it offset the clutch bell to where the spur and pinion gears wouldn't line up. Are you running a different clutch bell with that setup?? Thanks

I am running the stock tekno bell. I am going to order some of the step washer
kits and see if I can make other bells fit.

Drill the nipple section of the tank out and run the fuel line straight through
the side of the tank, like a losi tank. I double fuel tubed mine at the clunk and
nipple and it has been fine. I used the factory mounting o rings but run a chunk
1/10 scale tire foam under the tank and mine have been fine.

Are there any changes to the type of plastic the tank is constructed of? Thought in your earlier posts you advised that there was a issue with the type of plastic which was one of the reasons the tanks were spider web cracking. Thanks, anxiously awaiting the new tanks.

Yes, the material is changed and much better. We have a few test tanks with the new material and they all made it back from PNB in one piece. We just thought if we're making some changes to the tank, might as well improve a couple other things as well.

These grommets gonna be in one bag with new tank? Or they'll be sold separately?
