Simple and easy to fix , drill out the hole and install 10mm of fuel tubing which is yellow in my case in picture.

Plenty of cushioning and it does not look silly at all as no one even see it

The tank should not be loose at all. It should be snug and be able to 'rock' on the posts to absorb shock and vibration. But, like any screw on any vehicle, if you over-tighten the tank mount screws, something could break.

We're looking into different things right now. We realize some customers are having trouble with the tank. But with all of the testing and the majority of customers not having issues, we are trying to figure out what is causing repeat breaks in some setups. Is it the way it's being installed? Is it the tank itself? We don't know yet.

It may be that there isn't much room for error while mounting the tank. The screws can't be too tight or too loose. The pipe hanger must not interfere with the tank. The pipe should be placed away from the tank. The tank must not hit the chassis (i.e. do not over-tighten and flatten the o-rings). Like I posted earlier, we might need to add some more info to the tank install page so the tank mounting instructions are more clear.

All that said, we are still pursuing any issues to lessen the chance of a broken or damaged tank.

In the meantime, if anyone has broken a tank for ANY reason, please contact our customer support to obtain a replacement. Like any other issue we've dealt with in the past, we'll get it figured out and we'll take care of our customers in the process. If anyone is selling their NB because of this, that is your choice and we thank you for trying out our buggy. But, it's Sunday @ 11:30pm a couple days before the biggest race of the year (Dirt Nitro Challenge) and our priority is right here with you guys - where it should be.

Thanks for the posts. Tekno I appreciate your customer service, and I will be getting in touch shortly. At the end of the day I did buy the buggy to race in the 2014 season, and I have dnf'd all three events so far. I have one more tank left, I will mount with all due care, check my setup again using all extra info learnt thus far and anything extra I find in the next couple of weeks and give it a go. But if it breaks again, there's not really anymore I can do is there? I can't second guess all the instructions and setup sheets.

Maybe I have a defective buggy somehow, it can happen, the production process is not infallible. But I will see and hope for the best. In the meantime I will liaise with customer support for a possible solution.

What extra mods are you talking about. Only one that has been posted is to give the tank a little wiggle room. But you want to call the buggy a joke. You can't be serious. :weird:

Could someone please tell me some of the parts/rates that come with this car? (Springs, shock pistons, sway bars)

well hate to add that I broke my tank as well yesterday with less than a gallon on the car. it broke off the front mounting post piece of the tank. its not leaking fuel but seems like posts could be made from a softer plastic to help keep it from craking or breaking at the mount ends. all n all I love the buggy and im happy with the platform and teknos customer service. hey tekno, make sure yall bring spare tanks to the icebreaker race next month just incase there's tank casualties..lol great cars guys.

It seems many people are having problems with the tank, mine was related to the clunk fuel line (inside the tank) popping off the nipple, I add another piece of fuel line and is working great so far. Tekno told me they are checking on the nipple, maybe some more barb but that crack issues is another story. I’m really waiting for a permanent solution for both problems, I’m not the kind of person who enjoys temporary solutions, but like everyone says customer experience service and support since very very good.

Guys, the first batch of DNX408t truggy tanks had the same tank breakage issues. I used a longer screw and slid some fuel tubing over it. I'd only tighten the screws snug to let the fuel tubing allow the tank to flex with the chassis and absorb hard hits. I also used an extra o-ring under the tank tab insert for cushioning. I did this on the front and back. I never broke a tank when I ran the truck all last year.

TD eventually added more plastic material around the mounting tabs to beef them up a bit.

Something like this could possibly work with the NB48 tank.

one thing I see is that the tank posts are a stiff plastic, they dont flex at all. so when the chassis flexes(casing a jump) it pulls away from the tank. if the posts were more flexible it will definatly help.

back when the first jq run of buggies came out they were told to boil the post to make them more flexible. did anyone try that?

Noob question, how do guys adjust the brake bias so it is 40f 60r?

did you cut the over flow section down a bit as that is what causes the front to snap of the mounting tab

but i use a zip tie on the front and the tank is still fine

I trimed a mil or two off the overflow, im ordering a new tank and a few other things tonight. I rigged the tank and its working fine now, im going to rock it till the new parts come in then send this one back.im going to use a more flexible tank post for the new one and im sure it sould be worry free.
