How is the set-up out of the box? Any crucial changes? Do i want to run the V2 tower?

nitroal 05-12-2011 10:50 AM

set up out of the box is good. but don't judge the truck right away. i feel it takes 1/2 to 1 gallon of good running to break the truck in. my oppinion is that it is just to stiff when new and takes a little while to work things in and get it to the full potential. after that point, there are several upgrades that may help, but alot of them will depend on your driving style. just get it and drive for a while and then let us know what you need it to do better and we can steer you in the right direction for upgrades. the only must have upgrades in my book is the aluminum rear diff carriers, aluminum servo saver top and aluminum servo arm.

Use the stock set up and learn how to drive it. Then start tweeking stuff.

Are the diff carriers the part that the bearing presses into? The piece then slots into the diff case? What do these help?
I have the aluminum steering pieces already

"Suppose" to not wear as fast cause the truggy puts a lot of pressure on the rear diff. BUT I personally lost more bearings using the Alum ones. Since I went back to the plastic I have not had an issue. When the plastic wear out, I replace for 3 bucks. Everyone else uses these tho.

you are correct. the plastic pieces will wear out quickly and if you don't watch them carefully, it will cause your gears to strip out. i have been running mine for a year and a half now and not had a single bearing or gear problem.

Front Center universal driveshaft

I looking for the part # of The Front/center universal driveshaft. I have it on my buggy and I love it. To me it seem to turn in better, but thats just my opinion.

No not the same. The saver is on the truck and compresses against the spring. The servo arm is the servo horn.

What an awsome thread.

Out of all the RC forums on the web including the losi forum this one is above them all head and shoulders.
Everyone seems to have a great grasp on this truggy and I have learned a heck of a lot from reading from the verry start.
I am far from finished reading this thread yet But I would like to say a huge thank you and keep up the great work everyone.

Hey guys I just picked up a new truggy race roller from amain last week and was wondering if I still need to replace the shock ends like on the older ones? I didn't know if that was still an issue or if Losi fixed that problem?

I got mine in February I haven't had a problem with them at all. My guess is Losi fixed this issue.
