Hi Jammin
I too agree that I have a bit too much motor for myself to control in my truggy. The clutch was one area I knew I would need to soften up to be able to use the power more efficiently and I was running 2 silver and 2 green springs all on aluminium shoes but probably could have gone a step softer than the silvers. Discussing with other people, I think for my next race i'm going to jump down to a 48t spur gear as I clearly have enough get up and go with my .25 motor but it would allow the motor to still be pulling good speed down the straights and will hopefully make the bottom end a bit more docile and controllable.:) |

silver springs are the worst spring to use unless you have unlimited funds for clutch shoes:nod:

Reading all this makes me feel like I need to try a new clutch setup... I too have an 8T that on my practice track cannot get grip coming out of the corner.
Currently I am running the RTR clutch stock with a Nova 21p4. What is a good clutch setup to go with and flywheel to tame the engine down?

all aluminum shoes with 2 green and 2 black springs (if your motor has that much power) 2 green and 2 gold springs is a average set-up.

NEVER ever run silver springs! Especially not with that punchy of an engine. You'll be much better off with a softer clutch setup.;)

Do the 2.0 rtr Still come with only two clust shoes with silver springs? If so put 4 alm with 2 gold and 2 green like inferno said.
If it only has two shoes that's part of the problemo. |

With 4 silver like you have the motor will really spool up and you will get loads of wheel spin, making it hard to control out of turns and drive forward. |

Yeah that would do it. Silver springs are look like they sound, silver. Pull em out and put in 2 gold and 2 green springs. You should like how that works. If you wan more snap go 4 gold, less snap go 4 green, even less snap 2 green and 2 black. "in truggy I don't recommend 2 grn and 2 blk unless you have alot of motor and a slippery track"

Just to confirm, the part number for the gold and green springs are LOSA9113 and LOSA9114?

I plan to change my clutch setup as well. But Since I changed the motor to the .21 XZ-B would it be different? I see that Drake runs 2 composite shoes with his setup.
I have gotten used to the stock setup and it doesnt cause me much of a problem but I plan to change anyway. Any ideas on a good setup for this motor? The track is normally hard pack clay and loose. It dries pretty fast after watering. So it depends on what race I am in as to how good the traction will be. |
I run the losi blue shoes with gold springs on my XZ-B Speed and I love it.

Right on. Here is the Losi how to video on easy how to clutch installation. |
Thanks for the reply Jammin
I will give 2 green and 2 black shoes a go for the clutch and take it from there. I will admit actually the clutch shoes were stuffed after a combination of 8 x 10 minute qualifiers and practise rounds and were straight in the bin before finals started.:) |

Ok, so what's a good start for the clutch setup? Shoes, springs, I am using a steel flywheel. Both the engines I'm going to use have some balls, and can crank it (vspec or mod b5). We have some decent sized tracks here in CO as well.
