The other trade off is more power. More money for more speed. LOL. Keep your current gearing...maybe one tooth up on clutch bell, but use an engine capable of good torque and high revs.

i dont know anything about it, only that its a nova and its the cheapest i have found.

Will it be a big difference to the losi 454?

That is a great motor. I know a lot of people who run it in their trucks and love it.

The difference between it and the 454..... It will do everything better.

If you really want power, look at the Nova Roma .25 or the OS .28 Max. Both are under 300 and will be much stronger down low so you can run a really big clutch bell and not have to worry about acceleration.

thanks bro. the roma is 350 on amain. its too much for me tbh. pluss import taxes and so forth, too much. I think ill go for the .21 when its time.

what clutch shoes do you guys run btw?

Stock Losi clutch, aluminum flywheel, all aluminum shoes ( Losi Long Life's) 2 green and 2 gold springs.

If you have a motor with good torque like the P5XLT or Werks B5, you can run softer springs like all green.

Anyone still using a 3-shoe clutch setup? I have had great luck the past several years using them.

A couple of our club member's have been running the BUKU with good results. I personally stick to the M2C in truggy and buku in buggy.

I got Tonnnes of old 3 shoe setup's, no clue what to do with em.

I haven't used a 3 shoe since 06 when I started running Losi. My son was using an Ofna 3 shoe for the first year he ran but I got him a Losi as it was too much 2 have 2 different sets of tools, spares, and the suck. Since then, its been Losi and stock 4 shoes.

these_savages 08-11-2014 06:45 AM

have you tried the answer-rc shoes?

Got a Losi 8ight-t rtr red chassis truggy and I have no spares nor experience with these ... it is used and needs some work. I took it to the track last weekend and it did well but I am sure that there are some things that need attention. Can I up grade parts to the 3.0 or do I have to stay with the 2.0 model parts? Also what are the best shock springs for a medium size bumpy hard pack track because it needs a new set of springs. Any other help or tips would be great. I have put a new OS 28 in it and I am putting new servos in it ...anything else ???

Get rid of the plastic shock caps if it has them.

As far as getting 3.0 parts, most are a direct replacement but there are some specifics.

The front and rear ring and pinions.
The shocks and shock towers.
The arms along with the hubs and front hub carriers.
All these are completely new for the 3.0 and have to be used in conjunction with each other minus the R+P. You can run those by themselves ( just have to run the frond and rear together).

Good luck.

Having trouble now getting replacement rear opinions and ring gears. Can I just upgrade these 2 items to the 8T 3/4 ( Rear only )

You would have to do front and rear as the ratios would be different

willsy8.2 05-28-2020 05:04 PM

Ok. Thanks for that. Thought as much just didn't want to here it. So centre remains the same?

TIX 05-30-2020 03:03 PM

You need to change to a 12 clutch bell to get the right ratio with the 3/4 ring and pinion gears
