I only thing I have done is change the brake bias and put big bore shocks and change to a 17 tooth pinion. Right know I am playing on a hard packed track.
P.S. I changed to a Spectrum Radio

I am also at 5500 feet of altitude and I am having the same problem with heat. I can not get my SC8 to run under 300 degrees and run right so I cut the windows out and made bigger holes in the back trying to cool the thing down. I will find out tomorrow because we are going to the track, its going to be 60 degrees tomorrow.

i really wish they would of put big bores on it only thing im disapointed in

I've been checking out this thread for some time now as I am anxiously waiting on my SC8 to show up from Stormer Hobbies (back ordered the Pro Comp. version). I can honestly say I am really looking forward to running this truck in the spring. The DVR has been set for all the CORR races for years and to take all the 1/8 scale experience I have gathered over the years and incorporate it into this truck has me sitting on pins and needles.

ok, I'm starting to get this thing sorted. First mod was to change all of the electronics:

- Hitec 5955 steering
- Hitec 5925 throttle/brake
- Futaba FASST receiver
- AMB transponder

Chassis mods include:

- FT top brace
- Aluminum steering rack
- RC8T FT chassis braces
- FT brake discs
- FT titanium turnbuckles
- FT steering servo saver
- Chassis skid plate

Setup:
- 1.5 pistons/50wt (rear)
- 1.6 pistons/50 wt (front)
- 2.8mm rear sway bar/ 2.2mm front (indoor clay)
- 10/10/7 diffs

Engine:
- Pro28; O'Donnell ODO100 plug; Power Save Racing filter
- FT pipe/header
- FT alum. clutch (2)/composite (1); stock springs

Truck now drives as good as it looks!

My kit was a mess out of the box. Fuel tank was replaced by Associated. Steering servo saver cross threaded. Remote glow wire broke and decals on Red Bull body trashed. Now it runs with the buggies & truggies with Switch 2.0 tires!

Cheers

im trying to start mine for the first time and its stubborn as hell and im afraide im going to strip out the rotostart if i do is it fairly cheap to replace?.. also can i use a bump box or is the flywheel to high?

ruggydriver 01-18-2009 05:43 PM

I took my glow plug out and u turn the motor over with the starter and maybe 8-9 turns it gets real tight even with the glow plug out is this normal?

ruggydriver 01-18-2009 06:32 PM

no one?..

ruggydriver,

If you have not done so I would preheat the engine with a heat gun. A new engine can be very tight....you may want to put a few drops of after run oil directly into the piston to help lubricate it initially.

Check the glow plug with your igniter and make sure it's getting hot. The glow plug wire extension can cause some issues if it's not on tight, and the stock glow plug is also junk.

The rotostart shaft strips easily. Don't force it to start, the shaft itself is inexpensive...but looks like it doesn't hold up well. The truck can be put on a starter box without any modification.

I personally found the engine to be very easy to start. Warmed it up with a heat gun, primed the fuel, and it barely took more than a touch with the gun and it was up and running. Since then it has been perfect except once where the extension wire has come off during running.

The extension wire is tight with most any other glow plug which was causing it to pop off. I cut a small slit in the rubber of mine and just snap on the metal spring, it stays well enough now like that.

Might be an altitude issue. I ran mine all day yesterday and was able to keep it in the 200-260F ranges without issue. It was somewhat cold, about 40F here which contributed I'm sure. I have the full back on mine, but all of the windows cut out. I had to really lean mine out to bring the temp up otherwise it was more wanting to stay under 200...I'm at 500-1000 feet or so.

marksp,

I definitely see a need for different servos. I was really wanting something faster yesterday....but it was still livable...are you running it at TRCR?

I use the OFNA TruggyStart box, but your new Pro28 should fire right up. 1st thing I would check is the plug, followed by the connection from the remote plug. If these are confirmed good, check the ground which shoould be attached to the engine case.

After you sort through the ignition issues, make certain you don't have too much fuel causing hyrdopressure.

Good luck!

I'm sure a lot of you have seen this already, but if you haven't. This is as sweet as it gets!

The SC8 will be my next buy, just don't tell my wife:nod:.

yea i will definitly try the heat gun and for the sake of knowing its not the wire i just took the wire off for break in/getting it started sake.
