had the bully dog for a couple weeks and this is a quality good looking, decent handling scale truck. the engine is very reliable, starts easily, has a smooth powerband and a good top end, plenty fast. i've been running with just the roll cage, and the tires seem to hook up pretty good also. looking forward to running a bunch of these trucks together, anybody out there in southern arizona for the winter?

I got mine on the weekend, the KMC wheels version, i love it  and i am trying to get a few other guys to buy them so we can get a class at the local track ( i need 5 or more for a class).
i believe this is what truggies were suppose to be not the bastardised buggies that they are. :( i can wait for the wet season to be over so i can get it out on the track. gary |
curious how warm the engine runs with body on? anybody have race tune temps?

Yep, newbe here...... A buddy told me about this site. I had a slayer........ but just got a SC8T and have burned about 15 tanks, What a joke the Slayer is next to this truck. I'm still trying to set up the suspension, I'm running the bronze springs in the front and I tighten the sway bar screws, mine were loose when I got it. I see stock is 10K on the diffs and center, it handled pretty good but the rear some times would like to come around and the front would push in the turns a little. I'm going to try thinner oil in the rear diff to see if that will help coming out of the corners. I'm going to keep the front at 10k. I want to see if it will put out straight. From what I see on other lists, people are changing to 5-5-5 on the diffs or 5-5-2. What are you guys finding that works.
I'm not to new....... 1 Associated SC8T 2 Associated MGT's. 1 Associated RC10 3 Traxxas Slash's. 1 Traxxas Slayer. 2 Ax10 comp rigs. 1 wreckluss. 1 Chevy scaler. 1 1/4 Scale single seater buggie |
have you rebuilt the diffs at all?

KMC
I have had a KMC version for about a month and have burned a gallon of fuel through it. My temps are in the high 290's and that is based on my MIP temp sensor. If I run it any cooler it acts blubbery and unresponsive. I have had good luck with glow plugs, the only time I burn up a glow plug is when I run out of fuel. There are 5 of us in the Denver Colorado area that have SC8's and we all love them. the only changes my brother and I have made is shock oil's, my brother's bully dog has 50 front and 50 in the back. My KMC has big bore's and has 35 front and 35 rear. P.S. I think the roll cage is the best thing they ever did because I have torchured mine with very few problems.

you should post some pics... i have been curios to see what they look like after some abuse!

i have both an RC 8 and a SC8 (kmc wheels) and the diffs are very easy to rebuild, it takes longer to drain the oil out then do the rest of the work.
the gears are extremely hard. i raced my rc8 all last season and i am only now changing the spider gears and i dont really have to just as a yearly re-build in our off season. cant say enough how easy these are to work on cheers gary ps cut a lap or two for me as we are in our mosoon wet season and i wont get a run until march at the earilest |
Are these RC8 or RC8T based?
Cheers |
How are the Impulse-r/c clutch shoes working in the SC8's guys?

Hi guys
Im building an sc8 from scratch so i can run my motor and electronics. Just wondering what you guys would think of a p7R with a jp3 in terms of power ban for the car. I also decided to go with 7,7,7 instead of 10,10,10 also wondering what weight oil everyone is running in the front. It sounds like everyone is doing 45 in the rear Has anyone tried the steering mod on it yet - do you guys think it would help. Ill post picks when its done - im having a body painted to match the greaves "Monster" truck |
Associated SC8
The one thing I did was change the brake bias so that the rear brake comes in first to set the truck into a drift and that helps get the truck around the corners better. 10,10,10 and big bore shocks with 35 front and 35 rear. I can make the double at our track but can't make the triple like the buggies do.
