This is my second set and the same thing happened. Black streaks could be seen along the shaft and on closer examination with a magnifying glass, pittings and corrosion were the cause. I ran Jammin, Kyosho & Ofna before and never had this at all.

Any idea which other brand shaft can be used in Mugen as I'm dumping them for sure.
No ??, nobody ever had this issue ??

the cause for it is when you wash it, if your running the rubber shock shaft covers, when you wash it you need to take the rubber cover off, and wipe the shocks down very good and you shouldnt have this issue... ive had it happen to a few buggies.

1 set of my shocks has it, the other don't. I don't know how it comes, but they still seem to be smooth. Maybe you should try polishing it?

It also happened in the second hand MBX6 I have bought on December...the former owner gave me the sensation that he had never used the rubber shock shaft covers...I'm still using them with no issues...

Polishing won't be a good idea because the black streaks are not only on the surface of the shaft....so you could reduce too much the shaft's diameter according to me...

Default Clutch help

Hey guy I was gonna run the werks clutch is it better to get the 32 or 34mm? Also the new springs is higher # softer ?? So 8.25 is softer than 7.75.. Where a good starting point for the new springs, outdoors littles dust on top? Thanks

no, I guess not to many people keep their shock shafts wet? the mugen chrome is pretty good. you may have gotten a couple suspect pieces from a bad batch, I would not give up on them just yet.

Mugen uses a 34mm clutch, i would say start at 8.00f/8.25r for springs and yes the higher the # the softer they are as the # is the # of coils in the spring, more coils=softer, less=harder.

With the 5mm longer mugen chassis should you use the short front brace that comes with it or just use the one thats on the nitro kit ?

I've always washed all my other buggies under running tap without such problem before. Funny thing is the corrosion is not the usual brownish rust but black streaks that has etched into the metal.
I'm still having a nice shiny Jammin's old broken shaft that I had sharpened to use for digging out those mud from screw heads when washing the bug ?.

It's not stain on the surface that can be polished off but corrosion that has went into the shaft.

the intelligent thing to do would maybe post a picture to help clarify your question.
