Hi there

The 7/7/3 I had converged to a few weeks ago as what made the most sense where I drive, so it should be considered as my "base" setup.

We first drove the car during free practice with 9.75F/10.75R but the rear end looked like it was jumping a bit in the straight line's (the driver stand had been lengthened to accomodate the 25 drivers at once, and our spot was at the beginning, so we had a full view on the car's rear end for most of the straight and we saw it jumping around) as well as in the quick sections' holes, hence I changed to 11.0R "just to see" as it's a 120s job. Both of us then drove the car with the softened springs, and we *thought* (cough cough) that it was slightly better, while acknowledging that it was anything but obvious. In hindsight, we should have gone to 350/11.0 if we wanted to "fix" the "fast holes" behavior... but then again it might have hampered the car on the rest of the track (namely on-throttle I would think with too much weight transfer allowed to the rear). We also had the best lap for like the first 2 hrs until it was blown away by 1 full second by a competitor who cut the track somewhere we suspect, all this to say the car was freaking ballistic and yet so consistent.

Ride height was set at 27F/29R (mm). slightly plunging.

The car was abso-freaking-lutely fantastic, I was expecting that the 4x30mns both of us drove it would be a chore, but it was such a dream to drive, and we had crazy grins on our faces for the whole duration of our relays. Amazing the ease with which we would drive the thing and the steering that was available when needed! However I had crazy back pains at the end of the day, and Didier didn't feel his feet any more... remember that when one was done driving the other guy had to be both pit guy and personal marshall... At the end of the day we felt like we were dying...

Paul

Ps: If I sound euphoric, that's because I am. I've been running RC cars since 1984, and racing them since 1995, seriously since 2001, and same for my buddy Didier... and we both agreed that saturday was probably our best raceday ever, thanks to a faultless car mostly

your ride height sounds low unless your running some pretty small tires.lol with the car ready to hit the track drop it on the bench and set the front a arms level and the rear just above level. this should give get you 27/29

I believe he said stock springs... whether 9.25/10.25 or 9.75/10.75, the F/R is balanced, so the car remains neutral (if only a tad more difficult to drive with the harder ones).

You bet

The win was the icing on the cake, but even then it was just one of the best RC moments, ever

the 10/11 springs are softer, balance is nice but rate = traction = steering. whats your front end setup like wheelbase, caster, kickup, diff oil. whats your rear toe?

Do you have on-power push? With 7/5/3 it should turn fine, but if you chose the wrong tires, it will push. What surface are you running on and what tires are you using. If you need the car to rotate more, use the lower hole for the rear upper link and move the rear lower arms to the upper hole in the rear hubs. Moving the rear hubs rearward will also give more rotation. Using 2 in the rear diff, it will be looser on power coming out of the corners. The higher the rear diff oil, the more on-power rear grip, so using 5k in the rear diff will keep it too planted. I would suggest on rear diff oils to only change it 1K thickness at a time. Going from 2K to 5K on a rear diff is a lot of change.
