Losi 8ight building and setup
#1636
Bought an 8ight used off fleabay, and currently rebuilding it. Couple of questions:
1) bought the kingheadz 7075 al. clutch shoes. Whats a good spring/shoe combo to start with? Track is fairly high grip, most ppl use Clay Switch 2.0's or (when they come out) pink tapers.
2) The 2 servos I have to use are a KO PDS-2143FET high speed servo and a Hitec HS-5955TG ultra high torque servo. Should I use the KO for steering (111 oz-in/0.08s) and the Hitec (333 oz-in/0.15s) for throttle/brake, or the other way around?
Thanks!

I would use the 5955TG on steering, thats more torque than needed on throttle/brake.

I just use Dow 33 on my orings because I have tons of that stuff laying around.
Well I'm trying to get out of paintball but keep getting sucked back in. I don't work in a shop but I tech most of the guns and hoppers for the guys and girls on our team.

2) 5955 on steering imo.

is the jury still out on using the losi alum. front and rear chassis braces? do they hurt or help the car. is the car better off with some flex or does it square up and rotate better with the stiffer chassis braces. are they a must have or no?
thoughts please.

I'd say stiffer chassis braces are just another tuning option. More flex would probably help on a rougher track, or where traction is low. Less flew would probably work better on a smooth, very high bite track.

It has some good features.
I have not had much track time with the Losi but I really like the "smart" design of the buggy. I have yet to find the right setup for my driving style. Still searching

What are you looking for your car to do/feel?

Is this the "Dow 44" grease that you recommend for bearings? I was using green slime, would this be better?

Forgot to ask: would you use this grease on all bearings?
