What’s your opinion on the Tekin 4038 1350kv motor? Does it get hot?
Think it would handle a heavier truck? But still nice I live in central TX, in a hot climate, it is quite often over 100deg F here (~38deg C) and the heat is the main reason I chose the 1350kV Tekin. From what I've seen in my research, the best way to 'beat the heat' is to run low kV motor, 6s batteries, and fans wherever you can fit them. I'm running temperature telemetry on my Futaba 4PLS combo and the heat on the motor with a 17T pinion, 4500mAh 6s, 90C constant battery, and 6.89in Trenchers never exceeds 120deg F. Well, well within any limits. And it's CRAZY fast. Way overpowered. Edit: I've been running RC cars/trucks for 20+ years and back in the day, Tekin was the slightly cheaper way to win, with Novak being the big dollar player. I've always loved Tekin and am proud to continue to support them. So, take my opinion for what its worth, as a huge fanboy. |
Same here almost all my on road stuff is Tekin but one lrp 5.5 motor

Its not nearly as hot here and am running the Hobbywing Max8 combo with 2200kv motor that came with the used MT410 I bought. Even on 4s with a 16t pinion and Backflip tires she can still get very hot when ripping a bunch of 50-100% throttle through grass, etc. I was looking at stepping up the speed just so i still have some throttle left for corrections in the air on huge jumps with fast takeoffs. I'll have to try a 6s pack in my car and see how temps do but i realize my motor kv isn't ideal. My next step was a 18 or 20t pinion and some Yeah Racing fans for the motor i guess! |
Running 6s on a 2200kv motor with a 8lbs+ car is going to created a good amount of heat. But it will also be fast as hell.

MT410 changes
I decided to have some changes/upgrades on my MT410. There was no reason, as I only have 35 minutes of run time on it to begin with. I did every Tekno MT410 option part from Tekno you could do on this truck. Here is what was just done on top of it all:

Tell ya what fellas, I have an office full of RC cars I've built, collected and raced throughout the years. At some point, I'm going to have to purge a ton of stuff.
MT410? Never leaving my sight. Absolutely dig this truck. |

I have close to 30 RC's (surface) from vintage RC10's to a DBXL-E, to just about every Arrma, AE and Traxxas vehicle.
The MT410 is in my top two. "Nuff said". |
I bash a losi 8ight e 3.0 and I never broke anything on it other than battery trays. Then I hand the controller to my friend while we're doing speed runs at the park and he spins out at 50+, slams into the curb backwards, shatters a rear axle and cracks the rear A arm. THANKS BRIAN
He's notorious for breaking cars. If anyone wants to put the durability of the MT410 to the test I can give you his number. |
why should I only run it on 4s with a 2200 kv motor? it sounds fine for me (btw I don't even have an MT410, i'm broke).
