Droop screws should be supplied with the kit and you can install them from the top down like the manual shows or you can install them from the bottom of the car so the round head sits on the droop stop instead of the threaded portion. These screws are what limit the suspension when fully extended, if they aren't in place then all the pressure gets placed on your shock piston, rod ends, and cap I believe. Not such a big deal for regular running but in hard crashes everything is getting slammed and twisted around. I was breaking the odd piston or rod end on a previous vehicle until i dialed in the set screws a bit more to slightly limit the droop. This is mainly from a hard bashing point of view so racers might fine tune these even more for certain tracks or handling I'm guessing.

That does sound pretty promising on that Lipo, hope you're able to bring it back to life! Good call on the Venom lvc alarm since it will monitor individual cells as well as total voltage. With the big price tag on lipo's i don't mind having a backup alarm just in case!

Interesting about the timing, sounds like you definitely found the sweet spot!! I've never really played with the timing setting before, only punch. Do you have any vids by chance?

Thanks! Fingers crossed on keeping that pack in rotation. My dad just got an Arrma Outcast and I'd love to be able to give this pack to him so he can see what it can really do (he's running it on 4s right now).

I've never played with timing or punch before this, it's my first RC vehicle since I messed around with nitro 1/8 buggies about 10 years ago. I'm honestly shocked how much more powerful it is with the advance.

I don't have any video but it's supposed to be super nice out tomorrow so I can get something up on YouTube. As long as you don't mind watching me screwing around in my backyard on a 3ft plywood ramp

Didn't have much chance to film tonight, it got dark a lot sooner than I thought it would. I'll try to get some better footage this weekend, we plan on going to a local YMCA/park area to bash around a little.

This is after 5 or 6 attempts to get something recorded that wasn't a complete embarrassment. If you hear a terrible noise after a backflip, it's the Trenchers hitting the fender up front

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Nice backyard setup and flips! Your truck looks pretty snappy, you running 6s? I don't think mine will do standing backflips like that on 4s, haven't tried 6s yet.

I wish my backyard was just a bit bigger so i could setup something similar. I might have to borrow my neighbors yard as a landing pad haha.

I am trying to determine my next kit. I want to try tekno since I don't have any and everyone raves about them. I'm having trouble choosing between the ET48.3 and the MT410. It will mainly be a basher and I'll probably put my extra MMX and 2200kv sensorless motor from castle in it since I picked up a MMX and 2200kv sensored for my losi 8ight and all my other cars already have motors/escs.

I don't own any truggy kit cars so the ET48.3 appeals to me but I also won't be doing any serious racing with it. Does anyone on here have both? I am most curious about the durability between the 2. Are they pretty equal in this respect? I was also curious about the suspension travel and which one will absorb bumps/landings better.

You will be fine with either, they are very similar. The MT410 is not a stand alone MT, it is just made from existing Tekno parts. The MT410 has he same ET arms, but has the shorter SCT chassis. The ET has a few perks, like metal shock caps/collars. W/the ET you will need to add your own body mount, if you choose to run a non ET body.

Thanks

Mopar2 summed it up nicely. I'd add that the ET kit is $150 more expensive so you do pay for those upgrades up front with the ET kit. All the aluminum and/or delrin shock upgrades can also be purchased for the MT if you want them too.

MT will be more nimble, wheelie a lot more, a little more agile/unstable in the air, and way easier to self right which is one of my favorite features for bashing say something like a massive hill or area where your truck is far away from you and ends up on its roof! I don't think the ET can do this with its stock body. If you're looking for a truck body for the ET chassis i believe your options are extremely limited but there are bodies out there.

I believe one of the posts on this thread also list exactly what you need to convert one to other! Its only 3-4 parts i think, the most expensive being the longer (or shorter) chassis. Just in case you feel you made the wrong decision you can move everything over and have the other truck quite easily.

I'd honestly just search youtube for ET48 and MT410 bashing vids. There are a ton of awesome vids people, including some of the forum members, have put together and you'll get a very good sense of what each truck is capable of, how they drive, and how people are setting them up!

Hope that helps and good luck with the decision!

I have watched some vids. I am probably going to go with the MT410. It is cheaper as you said and I like the narrow chassis and shorter wheel base. Seems like more fun for bashing.

Plus I don't have any real MTs... the closest thing I have to one is a losi ten-mt and that is actually a buggy chassis with truggy length arms. So it's not a real MT at all.

3500ltz 10-12-2017 01:45 PM

The Tekno MT is basically their truggy bolted to their buggy chassis. Buggy/truggy platorms are what make this style of 'monster truck' the toughest platform for bashing, not to mention the easiest to work on. Some people say a true monster truck needs to have solid axles and a slipper clutch instead of center diff type thing.

I especially find the MT410 more fun cause i bash with a few friends that have smaller 1/10 scale trucks such the Slash so my MT feels very playful in small areas too as well as launching 60-70 footers when i want to!

Zinergy 10-12-2017 02:42 PM

Hmm, maybe I should just bolt truggy arms/shocks/drive shafts to my basher buggy and throw some MT tires on and save myself hundreds of dollars.

Depending on the buggy, it would be far cheaper to just add wide hexes. My EB has wide AE hexes & orig Badlands.

Thanks! Yeah the video was with a Tekin 1350kV truggy motor, 17T pinion, and an SMC 4500mAh 6s True Spec Premium battery.

Mine won't quite do standing backflips or right itself with my 4s pack, not with the 17T pinion anyway.

The backyard setup is pretty fun a couple times a week but it's getting a tiny bit boring honestly. I really need to find somewhere around here with more space to run around. Thinking about baseball diamonds or big public parks. I'd love to find a BMX track we can use but the one I found so far had a ton of signs about no RC vehicles, no one allowed that doesn't live in the neighborhood etc. Lots of signs and rules so far :(

I just rebuilt (shims, different weight oil etc) all three diffs on my dad's Arrma Outcast and the front and rear diffs were incredibly easy to get to.

When I broke the input gear on my rear diff on the MT410, it took me quite a while to get the rear diff out. Is that just the way it is on the Tekno or do you all have some easy way to get inside the front and rear diffs that I'm not noticing?

grabbem88 10-15-2017 01:05 PM

What’s your opinion on the Tekin 4038 1350kv motor? Does it get hot?
Think it would handle a heavier truck?

But still nice
